김해시는 부산시와 협약 추진한 동김해IC~식만JCT 광역도로 개통식을 16일 현장에서 개최했다.

이 도로는 김해시 어방동과 부산 강서구 식만동을 연결하는 4.6km 구간으로 총사업비 897억원을 들여 2019년 착공해 착공 5년 만에 결실을 봤다.

동김해IC 부근에서 국지도69호선(신항배후도로)와 국도14호선 대체우회도로와 직접 연결됨에 따라 부산신항, 가덕도신공항 등의 접근성이 한층 좋아질 것으로 기대된다.

또 부산시에서 추진 중인 대저대교 건설사업(식만~사상간 도로)이 2029년 완료돼 이 도로와 연결되면 김해-부산시간 광역교통망 확대도 크게 기여할 전망이다.

김해시 관계자는 “동김해IC~식만JCT 광역도로 건설공사로 인해 부산시 강서 방면 진출입이 원활해질 것으로 보인다"며 "특히 주요 정체 구간이었던 호계로(아이스퀘어호텔 주변) 등의 개선 효과가 클 것으로 기대된다”고 말했다.

이어 “다만 동김해 IC 진출입에 있어 교차로 신호체계 운영이 불가피해 IC 진출입이 기존보다 다소 불편해질 것으로 보여 운전자들의 많은 이해를 구한다”고 말했다.
