김영찬 골프존뉴딘그룹 회장이 가족과 함께 지역 사회의 취약계층을 돕기 위한 독특한 기부 활동을 5년째 이어가고 있다. 올해, 김 회장과 가족은 1년 동안의 골프 라운드에서 버디 이상의 스코어와 ‘에이지 슈트’를 기록할 때마다 적립한 ‘이웃사랑 버디 기금’ 약 4천6백만 원을 12월 30일 사회복지법인 밥상공동체복지재단 서울연탄은행에 기부했다.
에이지 슈트(Age Shoot)는 골프 라운드에서 자신의 나이 또는 그 이하의 스코어를 기록하는 것을 의미한다.
김영찬 회장이 가족과 함께 적립한 기금은 2020년 5천2백만 원, 2021년 4천6백만 원, 2022년 6천만 원, 2023년 5천만 원, 2024년 4천6백만 원으로, 5년 동안 총 2억 5천만 원 이상에 달한다.
이번 기부금은 서울연탄은행을 통해 서울시 강남구 구룡마을에 거주하는 에너지 취약계층을 위한 연탄 5만 장을 기부하는 데 사용될 예정이다. 이는 겨울철 한파에 취약한 지역사회의 어려운 이웃을 지원하기 위한 조치이다.
김영찬 회장은 “골프를 칠 때 동반자를 배려하고 따뜻하게 소통할 때 더 행복해지는 저와 가족의 마음이 우리 주변의 어려운 이웃에게 따뜻한 온기로 전달되어 기쁘다”며, “앞으로도 행복한 기부 활동을 이어나가 우리 사회에 나눔과 배려의 문화가 확산될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
골프존뉴딘그룹은 강남구 골프존타워서울을 본사로 두고 활발한 사회공헌 활동을 펼치며 지역사회와의 공생과 발전을 도모하고 있다. 2016년부터 강남구 수서 지역 일대에서 동절기 취약계층을 위한 전사 봉사활동을 진행해 왔으며, 2019년과 2023년에는 지역사회를 위해 힘써온 공로를 인정받아 강남구청으로부터 감사장을 수상한 바 있다. 이번 김영찬 회장의 구룡마을 연탄 기부는 지난해 대비 연탄 후원 규모가 절반가량 감소한 것에 따라 복지사각지대를 해소하고 지역사회와의 상생을 위한 노력의 일환이다.

Golf Jonnewyddin Chairman Kim Young Chan celebrates fifth year of unique donations
For the fifth year in a row, Golf John Newdin Group Chairman Young Chan Kim and his family have been organising a unique donation initiative to help those in need in the local community. This year, Kim and his family donated KRW 46 million to the Bapsang Community Welfare Foundation, a social welfare corporation, on 30 December, from the ‘Neighbourly Love and Birdie Fund’, which is accumulated for every birdie or better score and ‘Age Shoot’ in a round of golf over the course of a year.
An Age Shoot is when a player records a score equal to or below his age in a round of golf.
Chairman Kim Young-chan and his family will contribute KRW 52 million in 2020, KRW 46 million in 2021, KRW 60 million in 2022, KRW 50 million in 2023, and KRW 46 million in 2024, totalling more than KRW 250 million over five years.
The donation will be used to donate 50,000 briquettes to energy vulnerable people living in Guryong Village, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, through the Seoul Briquette Bank. This is a measure to support the needy neighbours in the community who are vulnerable to cold waves in winter.
‘I am happy that my family and I, who are happier when we play golf and communicate warmly with our companions, will be able to convey the warmth of our hearts to the needy neighbours around us,’ said Kim Young-chan, Chairman of GOLFZONE Newdin Group. ’We will continue our happy donation activities so that a culture of sharing and caring can spread in our society.’
Golf Zone Newdin Group is headquartered at Golf Zone Tower Seoul in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and is actively engaged in social contribution activities to promote coexistence and development with the local community. Since 2016, the group has been conducting company-wide volunteer activities for the vulnerable in the winter in the Suseo area of Gangnam-gu, and in 2019 and 2023, the group received certificates of appreciation from the Gangnam-gu Office in recognition of its efforts for the local community. The donation of briquettes to Guryong Village is part of Chairman Kim Young-chan's efforts to address welfare gaps and create win-win situations with the local community as the amount of briquettes donated has decreased by about half compared to last year.
Golfzone Newdin Group, which started as a screen golf venture ‘Golfzone’ in May 2000, is celebrating its 24th anniversary this year, and is engaged in various businesses beyond the screen golf business, including golf course management, golf product distribution, GDR Academy, and golf platforms. The group also realises the values of sharing and caring, the business philosophy of founder Kim Young-chan, through various social contribution projects such as discovering and supporting youth golfers, holding golf tournaments for the disabled, promoting cultural development and supporting the underprivileged.
