[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해의생명·산업진흥원(이하 진흥원)은 2024년 보건복지부 장관 기관 표창을 수상하는 쾌거를 이루었다.
진흥원은 경남 의료산업을 이끌어가는 컨트롤타워인 의생명센터와 지역산업 구조 고도화를 선도하는 중소기업비즈니스센터가 결합한 지역 거점기관이다.
지난 2018년 보건복지부와 한국보건산업진흥원이 주관한 시범사업인 지역클러스터-병원 연계 창업 인큐베이팅사업을 성공적으로 수행하였으며, 이후 2019년 정식사업으로 수주했다.
해당사업은 2022년 K-바이오헬스 지역센터 지역사업으로 명칭 변경 및 기능 확대됨과 동시에, 진흥원은 K-바이오헬스 김해지역센터로 선정됐다.
진흥원은 6년간의 K-바이오헬스 김해지역센터로서 보건의료 기업을 대상으로 전주기 지원, 입주 공간(공유·가상오피스) 구축, 병원 연계 등의 지원과 의생명 산업 육성을 수행했다.
이를 통해 2018년 67개 사에 불과하던 김해 의생명·의료기기 산업을 2024년 현재 316개사(약 476% 규모)로 성장시켰다.
2024년 진흥원이 쌓아온 보건산업 분야 기술사업화 및 창업을 통한 보건산업을 진흥하고 국민 건강증진에 기여한 공을 인정받아 보건복지부 장관 표창을 수상하는 쾌거를 이루었다.
진흥원은 글로컬대학인 인제대학교, 캐나다 워털루대학과의 협력을 통하여 의료기기의 디지털화 지원을 위한 AI 지원 플랫폼 구축을 기획 중에 있다.
또한 의료기기 제조 거점의 초석인 의료기기 전문 파운드리 및 멸균전문센터 구축을 위하여 노력을 기하고 있다.

멸균전문센터는 사람의 상처 또는 인체 삽입 등을 통하여 감염의 우려가 있는 제품을 대상으로, 제품의 특성에 맞는 멸균법 지원이 가능한 센터이다.
특히, 가장 대중적이나 환경 및 인체에 유해한 에틸렌옥사이드(EO) 멸균을 대체하기 위한 차세대 멸균법 발굴에 대한 내용이 포함될 예정이다.
