[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 추진 중인 '2025년 노후 굴뚝 정비사업'이 본격적으로 진행된다고 17일 밝혔다.
시는 지난 14일 금곡면 금곡탕의 노후 굴뚝을 시작에 이어 16일에는 상평동 도동탕 굴뚝까지 안전하게 철거하며 사업의 시작을 알렸다.
이번 정비사업은 사용승인일로부터 20년 이상 경과된 목욕탕 굴뚝 중, 현재 사용되지 않거나 구조적으로 위험한 시설을 대상으로 진행된다.
진주시는 노후 굴뚝이 시민의 안전을 위협할 수 있는 잠재적 재난 요소로 보고, 선제적으로 철거를 추진하고 있다.
시는 자진 철거를 유도하기 위해 철거비용의 50%, 최대 2000만원까지 보조금을 지원하고 있으며 지난 2024년부터 진주시 자체 예산으로 시행 중이다.
또 시는 지난해에는 총 1억원의 예산으로 6개소의 정비를 마쳤으며 올해는 예산을 1억8000만원으로 확대하고, 총 10개소를 대상으로 사업을 추진 중이다.
