[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 23일 오전 6시 40분경 부산 강서구 죽림동 서낙동로(김해에서 경마장 방향) 편도 2차로 구간에서 8중 추돌사고가 발생해 운전자 2명이 경상을 입고 병원으로 이송됐다.
경찰에 따르면 사고는 1차로를 주행하던 승용차(운전자 40대 남)가 불상의 이유로 정차하면서 시작됐다. 이를 뒤따르던 SUV(운전자 70대 남)와 승용차 2대(각각 70대 남, 60대 여성 운전)가 연달아 멈춰 섰다.
이어 같은 방향으로 진행하던 승용차(운전자 60대 남)가 마지막 차량의 후미를 들이받으며 연쇄 추돌이 발생했다.
이 사고로 인해 앞서 정차했던 6번 차량과 7번 화물차(운전자 30대 남)가 멈춰 섰고, 뒤따르던 화물차(운전자 40대 남)가 7번 화물차를 들이받으며 또 한 차례 연쇄 추돌이 일어났다.
이 사고로 4번 차량의 운전자(60대 여)와 동승자(50대 남)가 경상을 입었으며, 현장에서 응급조치를 받은 뒤 병원으로 옮겨졌다. 사고에 연루된 운전자 전원은 음주 상태가 아닌 것으로 확인됐다.
부산강서경찰서는 신고를 받고 즉시 출동해 2차 사고 방지와 교통정체 해소를 위해 사고 차량 견인(오전 7시 35분 완료)과 현장 교통정리에 나섰다. 경찰은 확보한 블랙박스 등 영상자료를 토대로 정확한 사고 경위를 조사 중이다.

At around 6:40 a.m. on June 23, an eight-vehicle pileup occurred on Seonakdong-ro in Jukrim-dong, Gangseo District, Busan (in the direction from Gimhae toward the racecourse), leaving two people with minor injuries.
According to police, the accident began when a sedan (driven by a man in his 40s) stopped for an unknown reason while traveling in the first lane of the two-lane road.
Following vehicles -- an SUV (driven by a man in his 70s) and two sedans (driven by men in their 70s and a woman in her 60s, respectively) -- also came to a stop. A sedan (driven by a man in his 60s) then struck the rear of the last stopped vehicle, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving the preceding vehicles.
Subsequently, a truck (driven by a man in his 30s) and another truck (driven by a man in his 40s) were involved in an additional chain-reaction crash, when the latter rear-ended the former after they had stopped due to the initial accident.
The driver (a woman in her 60s) and a passenger (a man in his 50s) in the fourth vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital after receiving on-site first aid. All drivers involved tested negative for alcohol.
The Busan Gangseo Police Department responded to the scene immediately upon receiving the report, managing traffic and towing the damaged vehicles by 7:35 a.m. to prevent further accidents and minimize congestion. The police are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash using dashcam and other video footage collected from the scene.
