지난 26일과 27일, 천부초, 울릉초, 남양초 학생들을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 안전체험교육’을 실시하며 도서 지역 특성에 맞춘 실질적인 안전 학습 기회를 제공했다.
이번 교육은 안전 체험시설 부족으로 상대적으로 교육 기회가 적었던 울릉도 학생들의 안전 의식과 대응 역량을 키우는 데 초점을 뒀다. 응급처치부터 화재·교통사고 대응, 자연재난 대비까지 일상에서 맞닥뜨릴 수 있는 다양한 위험 상황을 체험하며 배웠다.
실제 위기 상황을 재현한 프로그램을 통해 학생들은 위기 대처법을 몸으로 익히고, 생명의 소중함을 깊이 깨닫는 시간을 가졌다. 이는 단순 이론이 아닌 직접 경험하는 교육으로, 학생들의 안전 역량을 크게 높였다는 평가다.
올해 ‘실천하는 안전생활’을 주제로 진행 중인 이 순회 교육은 도내 80개 학교를 대상으로 운영되며, 이번 울릉도 방문은 특히 도서 지역 학생들에게 균등한 교육 기회를 제공하는 의미가 크다.
임종식 교육감은 “학생 안전은 학교 교육의 가장 기본이자 핵심”이라며 “앞으로도 도서 지역 학생을 포함해 모두가 체험 중심의 실질적인 안전교육을 받을 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Superintendent Lim Jong-sik said, “Student safety is the most basic and core aspect of school education,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that everyone, including students in island areas, can receive practical safety education centered on experience.”
