[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 한국남동발전(사장·강기윤)이 영산강유역환경청이 주관한 ‘미세먼지 계절관리제 이행 평가’에서 전국 38개 기관 중 1위를 차지하며 최우수 기관에 선정됐다고 23일 밝혔다.
이번 평가는 미세먼지 고농도 시기인 매년 12월부터 다음해 3월까지 오염물질을 줄이기 위해 시행되는 계절관리제의 이행 성과를 중심으로 이뤄진다.
한국남동발전 여수발전본부는 영산강유역환경청과의 자발적 협약을 바탕으로 다양한 저감 기술을 도입해 대기오염물질 감축에 적극 나섰다.
여수발전본부는 질소산화물 저감을 위해 고효율 탈질촉매를 현장에 적용하고, 황산화물 배출을 줄이기 위해 저유황탄을 적극 사용했다.
또한 본부는 석탄 연소 과정에서의 유해물질 발생을 줄이기 위해 노내탈황 기술과 배연탈황 장치를 함께 적용해 배출 오염도를 크게 낮췄다.
그 결과 지난 2018년 겨울철 대비 206톤, 약 63%의 미세먼지를 감축하며 탁월한 성과를 인정받아 이번 평가에서 최우수 기관으로 이름을 올렸다.
강기윤 사장은 “남동 에너지 신작로 2040 실현을 위해 오염물질 감축 노력은 필수적이다”며 “정부의 친환경 에너지 정책에 부응해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
