충남 금산군이 반복되는 가뭄과 용수 부족 문제에 대응하기 위해 남일면 마장리 일원에서 농업용수 확보를 위한 인프라 정비를 완료했다.
군은 올해 3월 초부터 8월 초까지 약 5개월간 총 6억4천만 원의 예산을 투입해 마장지구 내 용·배수로 425m를 정비했다고 8일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 장기적인 물 부족으로 어려움을 겪어온 농업 현장의 요구를 반영해 추진됐으며, 해당 정비를 통해 약 15헥타르(ha) 규모의 농경지에 안정적인 농업용수 공급이 가능해질 것으로 기대된다.
군 관계자는 “이번 사업은 가뭄을 사전에 대비할 수 있는 실질적인 대책으로, 농업인의 피해를 최소화하는 데 의의가 크다”며 “농경지의 용수 부족으로 어려움을 겪는 농업인들에게 실질적 도움이 되는 맞춤형 지원이 될 것”이라고 설명했다.
이어 “앞으로도 농업인이 안심하고 생업에 전념할 수 있도록 용수 기반시설을 포함한 농업생산 인프라 확충에 지속적으로 힘쓸 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
금산군은 앞으로도 기후위기에 따른 물 부족 현상에 적극적으로 대응하기 위해 지역별 실정을 반영한 농업개발 사업을 단계적으로 추진할 방침이다.
