[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 10일 오후 1시께 부산 부산진구 새싹로 서면교차로 인근 부산은행 앞 도로에서 시내버스가 횡단보도를 건너던 보행자를 들이받아 2명이 숨지고 2명이 다쳤다.
부산진경찰서에 따르면 60대 남성 운전자가 몰던 시내버스는 운행 중 원인을 알 수 없는 이유로 제동장치가 고장났다고 운전자가 진술했다. 버스는 정상 신호에 횡단보도를 건너던 60대 남성 2명을 먼저 충격한 뒤 약 30ｍ를 더 진행해 오토바이를 들이받았다.
이 사고로 보행자 2명은 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 숨졌고, 오토바이 운전자와 동승자(모두 30대 남성)는 경상을 입었다.
경찰은 국립과학수사연구원에 차량 감식을 의뢰해 제동장치 결함 여부를 포함한 정확한 사고 경위를 조사하고 있다.

At around 1 p.m. on the 10th, a city bus struck pedestrians crossing a crosswalk in front of a Busan Bank branch near the Seomyeon intersection on Saessak-ro in Busanjin District, Busan, leaving two people dead and two injured.
According to Busanjin Police Station, the bus, driven by a man in his 60s, allegedly experienced a brake failure for reasons yet unknown.
The driver told police that the braking system malfunctioned while the bus was in operation. The vehicle first hit two men in their 60s who were crossing the crosswalk on a green light, then continued for about 30 meters before colliding with a motorcycle.
The two pedestrians were taken to a hospital but died from their injuries. The motorcycle’s driver and passenger, both men in their 30s, sustained minor injuries.
Police have requested a vehicle inspection by the National Forensic Service to determine whether a brake defect was involved and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
