【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구광명학교(교장 서혜연)가 일본 구마모토현립맹학교와 함께 진행한 국제교류 캠프를 성료했다고 12일 밝혔다.
'2025년 광명-구마모토 시각장애 청소년 국제교류 캠프'는 지난 5일부터 7일까지 3일간 대구 일대에서 개최됐다.
'Another Way of Seeing(세상을 바라보는 또 다른 시각)'을 주제로 양국 시각장애 청소년들의 상호 이해와 우정을 다지는 뜻깊은 시간이 이어졌다.
일본에서는 학생 5명과 교사 및 인솔자 8명 등 총 13명이 참가했다. 대구광명학교 학생들은 프로그램 특성과 교육적 필요를 고려해 요일별로 탄력적으로 참여했다.
캠프 첫날 대구 YMCA 청소년회관에서 열린 환영행사에서는 합창 공연과 만찬을 통해 참가자들이 첫 만남의 어색함을 풀고 자연스럽게 교류하는 시간을 가졌다.
둘째 날에는 대구광명학교 견학을 시작으로 키링 만들기와 손수건 염색 등 공예 체험, 시각장애인 전용 스포츠인 쇼다운 체육활동, K-POP 체험 등 다양한 프로그램이 진행됐다.
마지막 날에는 지역 문화 탐방이 이어졌다. 팔공산 동화사에서 사찰음식을 체험하고, 대구약령시에서 한방족욕과 비누 만들기 등 한방문화를 경험했다. 또한 3·1운동 역사관(교남 YMCA) 투어를 통해 한국의 근현대사에 대한 이해를 넓혔다.
서혜연 교장은 "이번 캠프는 단순한 체험을 넘어, 시각장애 청소년들이 세계 시민으로 성장할 수 있는 밑거름이 되었다"며, "앞으로도 장애 학생들이 더욱 넓은 세상과 소통할 수 있도록 다양한 국제교류의 기회를 마련해 나가겠다"고 포부를 밝혔다.

Participants sampled temple food at Donghwasa Temple in Palgongsan Mountain and experienced traditional Korean medicine culture, including foot baths and soap making, at Daegu Herbal Medicine Market. They also toured the March 1st Movement History Museum (Gyonaam YMCA) to deepen their understanding of modern and contemporary Korean history.
Principal Seo Hye-yeon stated, "This camp went beyond mere experience and laid the foundation for visually impaired youth to grow into global citizens." She added, "We will continue to provide diverse opportunities for international exchange so that students with disabilities can connect with the wider world."
