[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 사상경찰서는 공용이용시설에 폭탄을 설치했다는 허위 내용으로 112에 신고한 혐의로 30대 남성 A씨를 검거했다.
경찰에 따르면 A씨는 분실된 휴대전화를 습득한 뒤 세 차례에 걸쳐 폭탄 설치 허위 신고를 한 것으로 조사됐다. 지난해 12월에는 부산 소재 한 도서관에 폭탄을 터뜨렸다고 신고했고, 올해 7월에는 부산백병원, 지난 8월에는 하단수영장에 폭탄을 설치했다고 각각 허위 신고했다.
각 신고가 접수될 때마다 경찰은 폭발물 처리반(EOD)과 소방당국 등을 현장에 급파해 인근을 대피시키고 수색 작업을 벌였으나, 폭발물은 발견되지 않았다. 이 과정에서 상당한 인력과 장비가 투입돼 정상적인 치안 활동에 차질이 빚어졌다.
경찰은 해당 휴대전화의 통신 수사와 주변 CCTV 분석 등을 통해 A씨를 특정하고 13일 위계에 의한 공무집행방해 혐의로 체포했다. 경찰은 엄정 대응 차원에서 민사상 손해배상 청구도 검토하고 있다.
현행법상 폭발물 설치 등 허위로 112에 신고하면 위계에 의한 공무집행방해죄로 5년 이하의 징역 또는 1천만 원 이하의 벌금형에 처해질 수 있다.
경찰 관계자는 “허위 신고는 심각한 업무방해와 공권력 낭비를 초래한다”며 “형사처벌뿐 아니라 민사상 손해배상 책임도 질 수 있는 만큼 각별한 주의가 필요하다”고 강조했다.

Police in Busan’s Sasang District have arrested a man in his 30s on charges of making a series of false 112 emergency calls claiming bombs had been planted at public facilities, authorities said Wednesday.
Investigators allege the suspect, identified only as Mr. A, found a lost mobile phone and used it to make three separate bomb threats. The incidents include a December 2024 claim that a bomb had been detonated at a local library, a July 2025 report of an explosive at Busan Paik Hospital, and an August 2025 threat targeting Hadan Swimming Pool.
Each report prompted a large-scale emergency response. Police dispatched Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams and fire crews, evacuated nearby areas, and searched the sites. No explosives were found, but officials said the hoaxes diverted significant manpower and resources, disrupting normal law enforcement operations.
Mr. A was identified through phone records and CCTV footage and was taken into custody on August 13 on suspicion of obstruction of official duties by fraudulent means. Sasang Police said they are also considering a civil damages claim in connection with the case.
Under Korean law, making false emergency reports involving explosives can carry a penalty of up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won.
