[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 ‘2028 세계디자인수도 부산’ 지정 성과와 향후 추진 과제를 시민과 공유했다.
시는 27일 오후 고려제강 Kiswire Center 2층 와이어뮤지엄에서 ‘디자인으로 만드는 미래, 2028 세계디자인수도 부산’을 주제로 제7차 시민행복부산회의를 개최했다. 이번 회의는 지정 이후 처음 마련된 시민 소통의 장으로, 박형준 부산시장과 시의원, 구청장, 디자인 전문가, 시민 공감 디자인단 등 70여 명이 참석했다.
행사는 영도구와 해운대구의 공공디자인 우수 사례 발표, ‘세계디자인수도 부산’ 실현을 위한 실천 과제 소개, 시민 간담회 순으로 진행됐다. 특히 시는 ▲전 구·군 디자인 전담 조직 신설 및 인센티브 지원 ▲도시재생·교통·환경 등 사회문제 해결을 위한 디자인 활용 ▲시민 참여 확대 ▲글로벌 수준의 도시 품격 제고 ▲국제 교류를 통한 디자인 생태계 조성 ▲부산 중심의 통합 디자인 실행 플랫폼 구축 등 6대 추진 과제를 발표했다.
부산시는 이를 통해 전 구·군에 디자인 전담 조직을 마련하고, 범죄예방디자인·유니버설디자인 같은 생활밀착형 정책을 강화해 시민 삶의 질을 높인다는 방침이다. 또한 다대포 해수욕장, 화명생태공원 등 주요 거점을 세계적 디자인 거리와 글로벌 야간경관 명소로 개발하고, 국제 전시회·콘퍼런스를 적극 유치해 부산을 글로벌 디자인 허브로 육성할 계획이다.
박 시장은 “세계디자인수도 부산 지정은 시민 모두가 함께 이뤄낸 소중한 성과이자, 도시가 글로벌 디자인 중심지로 도약하는 전환점”이라며 “시민과 함께 도시의 미래를 디자인해 ‘다시 태어나도 살고 싶은 도시 부산’을 실현하겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 회의에서는 WDO(세계디자인기구) 토마스 가비 회장과 오세훈 서울시장 등 국내외 인사의 축하 영상도 상영됐다. 시는 앞으로도 시민과의 공감과 참여를 기반으로 정책을 추진하며, ‘2028 세계디자인수도 부산’ 성과를 생활 속 변화로 이어가겠다는 계획이다.

The City of Busan has shared the achievements and future plans following its designation as the World Design Capital (WDC) 2028, engaging directly with citizens to outline the path forward.
On August 27 at 3:30 p.m., Busan hosted the 7th Citizens’ Happiness Busan Forum at the Wire Museum (2nd floor of Kiswire Center, Yeongdo-gu) under the theme “Designing the Future: World Design Capital Busan 2028.” This was the first citizen engagement event held since the designation, bringing together over 70 participants including Mayor Park Heong-joon, city council members, district mayors, design experts, and members of the Citizen Empathy Design Group.
The forum featured presentations of outstanding public design practices from Yeongdo-gu and Haeundae-gu, a session introducing the key action plans for achieving WDC goals, and an open dialogue with citizens.
During the event, the city unveiled six major action strategies to realize the vision of WDC 2028:
▲Establishing dedicated design departments in all districts and offering incentive programs
▲Utilizing design solutions to address urban issues such as regeneration, transportation, and the environment ▲Expanding citizen participation in design processes ▲Enhancing the city’s global image and design sophistication ▲Creating a design ecosystem through international cooperation▲Building a centralized design execution platform led by Busan.
Through these initiatives, Busan plans to introduce design-focused governance across all districts and strengthen practical, everyday design policies such as crime prevention design and universal design to improve residents’ quality of life.
The city also announced plans to transform key areas like Dadaepo Beach and Hwamyeong Ecological Park into globally recognized design streets and nighttime landmarks. Additionally, efforts will be made to attract international exhibitions and conferences to establish Busan as a global design hub.
Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “Being named World Design Capital 2028 is a remarkable achievement made possible by all our citizens. It marks a turning point for Busan’s transformation into a global design leader. Together, we will design a city where people want to live again and again.”
The forum also featured congratulatory video messages from WDO President Thomas Garvey and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, among other domestic and international figures.
Busan plans to continue promoting citizen-centered policies and ensure that the WDC 2028 designation leads to tangible, everyday improvements in the lives of its residents.
