[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 부산광역시와 김해↔부산↔양산 간 광역환승요금을 전면 무료화하기로 합의하고 오는 19일부터 시행한다고 밝혔다.

이번 무료화는 경남도의 제안으로 광역 대중교통체계 개선과 부울경 초광역경제동맹 협력과제인 ‘부울경 광역환승 할인제 확대’를 추진하는 과정에서 경남도(김해시·양산시)와 부산시 간 10여 차례 긴밀히 협의를 거쳐 이뤄낸 의미 있는 성과다.

김해↔부산↔양산 간 시내버스 또는 도시철도 환승 시 발생했던 광역환승요금(1회 500원, 2회 200원)은 그간 도민들의 교통비 부담을 가중하는 요인으로 지적돼왔다.

앞으로는 광역 환승 시 추가 요금을 내지 않아도 돼, 출근·통학 등을 위해 광역 대중교통을 이용하는 도민들은 월 1만 원 이상의 교통비를 절감할 수 있게 됐다.

환승은 하차 후 30분 내 최대 2회까지 무료이며, 별도의 신청 없이 모든 교통카드 사용자에게 자동으로 적용된다.

도는 도민들의 교통비 절감은 물론 대중교통 이용률 향상과 광역 생활권 통합을 도모할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

박완수 도지사는 “이번 광역환승요금 무료화는 부울경 경제동맹의 모범 사례로 경남과 부산이 함께 만든 뜻깊은 성과”라며, “앞으로도 경남과 부산·울산 등 광역 대중교통체계 개선을 통해 도민이 체감할 수 있는 교통 복지를 실현해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.
