[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시가 제579돌 한글날(10월 9일)을 기념해 시민과 공무원 모두가 참여하는 특별한 행사를 마련한다.
이번 행사는 사라져가는 지역 고유의 토박이말을 보존하고, 공공 영역에서 올바른 우리말 사용을 확산하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다.
창원시는 지난해 큰 호응을 얻었던 ‘멋글씨로 빛나는 토박이말 공모전’을 올해도 개최한다. 일상생활 속에서 잊혀가는 아름다운 토박이말을 발굴하고, 이를 손 글씨로 표현하는 행사다.
공모전은 지난 1일부터 19일까지 진행되며, 시민 누구나 연필, 붓펜, 사인펜 등 자유로운 필기도구로 A4 크기 이상의 종이에 작품을 제출하면 된다. 접수는 온라인과 우편으로 가능하며, 최종 심사를 위해서는 반드시 실물 원본 작품을 제출해야 한다. 심사를 통해 15명의 우수작을 선정해 총 으뜸상 1명(30만 원), 버금상 3명(각 20만 원), 보람상 11명(각 10만 원)에게 누비전(창원사랑상품권)을 수여한다.
창원시는 행정 용어 개선에도 나선다. '행사명 바로 쓰기 우수 부서 선정'은 시청 소속 모든 부서와 읍·면·동을 대상으로 진행된다. 9월 1일부터 12일까지 2025년에 사용한 행사명, 사업명, 표어, 홍보물 중 올바른 우리말 사용 사례를 제출하면 된다.
심사를 거쳐 으뜸상 1팀(30만 원), 버금상 1팀(20만 원), 보람상 5팀(각 10만 원)을 선정해 누비전으로 시상할 예정이다. 이와 더불어, 10월부터는 인공지능을 활용해 공공언어를 바로잡는 교육을 전 직원을 대상으로 진행하며 행정 언어의 순화 노력을 이어간다.
