(사)푸른아시아는 5일, 국내 기업의 온실가스 감축 역량을 국제 수준으로 끌어올리기 위한 '온실가스 감축 MRV(측정·보고·검증) 역량 강화 교육'을 시행한다고 밝혔다. 9월 25일 서울시청 인근 프레지던트 호텔에서 열리는 이번 교육은 한국에너지공단이 주최하고, ㈜기후경영연구원과 그린나래솔루션이 공동 운영한다.
이번 교육은 온실가스 감축 사업의 신뢰성과 투명성을 높이는 데 핵심적인 MRV 체계 전반을 다루며, 산업 부문 기업과 유관기관 관계자 등 50명을 대상으로 진행된다. 참가자들은 유엔기후변화협약(UNFCCC) 탄소시장 감독기구 위원을 역임한 오대균 박사 등 국내 최고 전문가들로부터 온실가스 감축사업의 제도적 기반, MRV 체계 설계 및 방법론, 국제 기준에 따른 사업 추진 전략 등을 배울 수 있다.
교육 참가 신청은 9월15일까지 온라인으로 할 수 있다. 기관당 최대 2명까지 참여 가능하다. 참가자에게는 중식과 다과가 제공되고, 교육 수료 시 수료증이 발급된다.
공동 운영사인 ㈜기후경영연구원의 이재원 대표는 "온실가스 감축 사업에서 MRV 역량 확보는 사업의 성패를 좌우하는 핵심 요소"라며 "이번 교육이 기업의 실질적인 대응 역량을 강화하는 계기가 되기를 바란다"고 말했다.
한편, 이번 산업 부문 교육에 이어 발전 부문 교육도 오는 11월에 진행될 예정이다. 제30차 유엔기후변화협약 당사국총회 결과를 반영해 마련될 계획이다.

Intensive Learning Opportunity for Industrial Companies on the MRV System

Green Asia announced on the 5th that it will conduct "Greenhouse Gas Reduction MRV (Measurement, Reporting, Verification) Capacity Building Training" to raise domestic companies' greenhouse gas reduction capabilities to international standards. The training, to be held on September 25th at the President Hotel near Seoul City Hall, is hosted by the Korea Energy Agency and co-operated by the Climate Management Institute and Green Narae Solutions.
This training covers the entire MRV system, which is crucial for enhancing the reliability and transparency of greenhouse gas reduction projects. It is designed for 50 participants, including industrial companies and related organizations. Participants will learn from leading domestic experts, including Dr. Dae-gyun Oh, a former member of the Carbon Market Supervisory Body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), about the institutional foundations of greenhouse gas reduction projects, MRV system design and methodology, and project implementation strategies based on international standards.
Registration for the training is open online until September 15th. A maximum of two participants per organization can participate. Lunch and refreshments will be provided to participants, and a certificate of completion will be issued upon completion.
Lee Jae-won, CEO of Climate Management Institute, a joint organizer, said, "Securing MRV capabilities in greenhouse gas reduction projects is a key factor in determining the success or failure of such projects. I hope this training will serve as an opportunity to strengthen companies' practical response capabilities."
Following this industrial training, a power generation training program is scheduled for November. The program will be designed to reflect the outcomes of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
