영진전문대학교(총장 최재영) 파크골프경영과가 지난 8일 경북 고령군 대가야파크골프장에서 '제6회 영진 재학생 파크골프대회'를 개최했다.
(사)대한파크골프협회와 빅스타파크골프의 후원으로 열린 대회는 단순한 스포츠 경기를 넘어 다층적 의미를 담았다.
500여 명이 함께한 이번 대회는 영진전문대 파크골프경영과가 단순한 학과를 넘어 국내 파크골프 발전의 중심축으로 자리매김하고 있음을 보여준다.
개회식에는 이남철 고령군수를 비롯해 남진수 대한파크골프협회 부회장, 이철호 고령군의장, 김종태 고령군체육회장, 김광식 고령군파크골프협회장, 최명순 대한파크골프협회 이사 등 각계 인사들이 내빈으로 참석했다.
박종성 파크골프경영과 동문회장의 개회선언으로 시작된 행사는 조진석 학과장의 대회사와 이남철 고령군수의 환영사, 각계 인사들의 축사로 이어지며 대회의 의미를 더했다.
이남철 군수는 "역사와 전통의 고장인 고령에서 영진인들의 화합과 친목을 다지는 대회 개최를 환영한다"며 "주문식교육으로 다져진 영진전문대의 명성이 파크골프 분야에서도 전국적으로 알려지게 된 것을 지역민으로서 축하한다"고 소감을 밝혔다.
남진수 대한파크골프협회 부회장은 "영진전문대 파크골프경영과는 파크골프 전문인력 양성의 요람으로 자리매김하고 있다"며 "올해 중 협회에 창설될 대학부에서 영진이 중추적인 역할을 할 것"이라고 기대감을 표했다.
대회는 18홀 스트로크 방식으로 진행됐으며, 개인전과 학반별 단체전에서 참가자들은 치열한 경쟁을 펼쳤다. 경기 규칙은 대한파크골프협회 공식 규정을 적용했으며, 동타자는 서든데스 니어핀 방식과 백카운트 방식으로 순위를 결정했다.
개인전 남녀 1~3위에게는 상장과 파크골프클럽이, 단체전 수상팀에게는 상장과 파크골프공이 각각 수여됐다. 특히 대회 개최일인 8일을 기념해 남녀 9위, 8위, 98위 선수에게 특별시상을 마련하는 세심함을 보였으며, 행운상 추첨도 함께 진행돼 참가자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
조진석 파크골프경영과 학과장은 "이번 대회는 파크골프 실력 향상은 물론 학생과 동문 간 화합과 소속감을 높이는 뜻깊은 자리였다"며 "앞으로도 파크골프 전문 교육과 다양한 대회 참여를 통해 국내 파크골프 산업을 이끌어갈 최고의 인재를 양성하겠다"고 향후 포부를 밝혔다.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from various fields, including Goryeong County Mayor Lee Nam-cheol, Korea Park Golf Association Vice President Nam Jin-soo, Goryeong County Council Chairman Lee Cheol-ho, Goryeong County Sports Association President Kim Jong-tae, Goryeong County Park Golf Association President Kim Gwang-sik, and Korea Park Golf Association Director Choi Myeong-soon.
The event began with an opening address by Park Jong-seong, the alumni association president of the Park Golf Management Department. The event was followed by a welcoming address by Department Chairperson Cho Jin-seok, followed by congratulatory remarks from Goryeong County Mayor Lee Nam-cheol, adding to the significance of the event.
Mayor Lee stated, "I welcome the hosting of this event in Goryeong, a place steeped in history and tradition, to foster unity and camaraderie among the Yeongjin community." Vice President Nam Jin-soo of the Korea Park Golf Association expressed his anticipation, saying, "Yeongjin College's Park Golf Management Department is establishing itself as a cradle for nurturing park golf professionals. I anticipate Yeongjin College will play a pivotal role in the association's upcoming college program this year."
The tournament consisted of an 18-hole stroke play format, with participants competing fiercely in both individual and group events. The competition followed the official rules of the Korea Park Golf Association, with sudden-death near-pin and back-count rules used to determine the rankings.
The first to third place winners in the men's and women's individual events received trophies and park golf clubs, while the winning teams in the team events received trophies and park golf balls. To commemorate the opening day of the competition on the 8th, special awards were presented to the 9th, 8th, and 98th place winners in the men's and women's events. A lucky draw was also held, which garnered a great response from participants.
Cho Jin-seok, head of the Park Golf Management Department, stated, "This competition was a meaningful opportunity to not only improve park golf skills but also foster harmony and a sense of belonging among students and alumni." He expressed his aspirations for the future, saying, "Through specialized park golf education and participation in various competitions, we will continue to cultivate top talent who will lead the domestic park golf industry."
