[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남의 젖줄, 낙동강이 자연과 사람이 공존하는 '생태관광의 중심지'로 거듭나기 위한 청사진이 제시됐다.
경남연구원은 최근 발표한 인포그래픽스 '낙동강 생태관광 활성화를 위해 무엇을 해야 할까요?'를 통해 낙동강 인접 8개 시·군의 관광 실태를 분석하고, 실질적인 개선 방안을 담은 연구 결과를 공개했다.
이번 연구는 낙동강 유역의 창원, 김해, 밀양, 양산, 의령, 함안, 창녕, 합천을 대상으로 진행됐으며, 방문객들의 관광 활동 패턴을 면밀히 분석했다.
그 결과, 방문객들은 박물관, 맛집, 생태체험 등 다양한 활동 후 자연경관을 즐기는 경향이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
특히, 박물관 관람 후 자연경관 활동에 참여한 비율은 92%에 달해, 낙동강의 아름다운 자연경관이 다른 관광 활동과 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있음을 보여주었다.
이에 연구진은 낙동강의 잠재력을 극대화하기 위한 네 가지 핵심 과제로 관광인프라 및 관광지 편의시설 확충과 음식시설 개선 및 확충, 먹거리·기념품 개발, 생태관광 홍보 및 마케팅 활성화 등을 주요 과제로 꼽았다.
경남연구원은 이와 같은 개선 과제를 바탕으로 낙동강 생태관광의 새로운 방향을 제시했다.
첫째 '하루 더 머무는 낙동강 생태관광을 위해 자연경관과 연계된 다양한 관광 상품을 개발하고, '자연생태 워케이션' 프로그램 도입을 제안했다.
또한, 낙동강변을 따라 특색 있는 '미식 로드'를 조성하여 방문객들이 더 오래 머물고 즐길 수 있도록 해야 한다고 제안했다.
둘째 '신규 관광 수요층 확대'를 위해 MZ세대와 가족 단위 관광객 등 새로운 수요층을 끌어들이기 위해 '블루리버 뮤지엄' 조성, 예술 프로그램 운영, 시간대별 레저 활동 콘텐츠 개발, 자연생태 학습 프로그램 개발 등이 필요하다고 제시했다.
셋째는 '풍부한 식도락과 쉼이 있는 낙동강'을 목표로 '낙동강의 날' 통합 축제와 릴레이 야시장을 개최하고, 시티투어 버스를 운영하여 접근성을 높이는 방안을 제시했다.
아울러, 자연을 활용한 치유와 힐링을 위한 '팝업형 숙박 공간'을 조성하여 낙동강만의 특별한 경험을 제공해야 한다고 강조했다.
박득희 연구위원은 "이번 연구는 낙동강이라는 경상남도의 대표적인 자연 자원을 활용한 실질적인 생태관광 활성화 방안을 제시했다는 점에서 큰 의미가 있다"고 밝혔다.
