올해로 8회째를 맞은 이번 시상식은 행정안전부 산하 (사)한국자치발전연구원이 주최해 전국 지자체와 기관 중 혁신성과가 두드러진 곳을 선정했다.
울릉군은 울릉공항 개항을 앞두고 ‘글로벌 그린 아일랜드’ 구상을 추진하며, 교통·의료·교육 인프라 개선을 위한 ‘먼섬 지원 특별법’ 제정에도 앞장서 왔다. 또 학교복합화 시설, K-U시티 프로젝트, 특별자치군 설립 추진, 인재육성재단 설립, 청년 주거 지원 등 다양한 정책이 호평을 받았다.
남한권 울릉군수는 “이번 수상은 군민 모두가 함께 이룬 성과”라며 “앞으로도 군민과 함께 더 살기 좋은 울릉을 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.
