[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 26일 창원컨벤션센터에서 ‘2025년 부울경 경제동맹 정책포럼’을 개최하고, 부울경 초광역권의 연계와 협력 방안을 모색했다.
이번 포럼은 ‘부울경 초광역권의 연결·혁신·균형발전 전략’을 주제로, 경상남도·부산광역시·울산광역시가 주최하고, 경남연구원이 주관했다.
이날 행사에는 박명균 경상남도 행정부지사, 이병헌 지방시대위원회 5극3특 특별위원회 위원장, 시도 관계자 등 80여 명이 참석해 초광역 경제동맹의 필요성과 추진 전략을 논의했다.
포럼은 오동호 경남연구원장의 개회사를 시작으로, 박명균 행정부지사의 환영사와 기조강연, 주제발표, 종합토론 순으로 진행됐다.
기조강연에서 이병헌 위원장은 ‘5극3특 국가균형발전정책과 부울경 초광역권 혁신성장 방향’을 주제로, 정부의 균형발전 전략과 부울경의 역할을 제시했다.
이어진 주제 발표에서는 송우경 산업연구원 선임연구위원이 ‘5극3특 성장엔진(신산업) 육성과 부울경의 발전방향’, 김종성 경남연구원 연구위원이 ‘부울경 초광역권의 연계·협력형 메가시티 육성 전략’에 대해 발표하며, 지역 간 협력과 신산업 육성 방향을 제안했다.
종합토론은 문태헌 경상국립대 교수를 좌장으로, 김재홍 울산대 명예교수, 이우배 인제대 명예교수, 정주철 부산대 교수, 김태영 경남연구원 연구부원장이 참여해 초광역 협력의 구체적 실현 방안을 논의했다.
박명균 경상남도 행정부지사는 “수도권 일극체제와 지역소멸이라는 현실 앞에서 부울경 협력의 필요성은 더욱 커지고 있다”며 “이번 포럼이 부울경이 함께 성장해 나갈 방향을 다시 한번 논의하는 자리가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
한편, 지난 2023년 출범한 ‘부울경 초광역경제동맹추진단’은 최소 인력과 비용으로 초광역 협력에 신속·유연하게 대응하고 있다.
특히 경제동맹 1호 협력사업인 ‘부산-양산-울산 광역철도사업’이 예비타당성 조사를 통과하는 등 실질적 협력 성과를 내며 ‘작지만 강한’ 초광역 협력 모델로 자리매김하고 있다.

Gyeongsangnam-do Vice Governor Park Myung-gyun stated, "Facing the reality of the unipolar Seoul metropolitan area and regional extinction, the need for cooperation between Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeonggi Province is growing." Meanwhile, the "Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeonggi Super-Wide Area Economic Alliance Promotion Team," launched in 2023, is responding quickly and flexibly to ultra-wide-area cooperation with minimal staff and costs.
In particular, the "Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan Metropolitan Railway Project," the first cooperative project under the economic alliance, has achieved tangible results, including passing the preliminary feasibility study, establishing itself as a "small but strong" model for ultra-wide-area cooperation.
