한국종교협의회와 대한민국기독교성직자협의회(Korean Christian Leadership Conference, 이하 KCLC)는 13일 '제2차 종교자유 선언문 발표 및 기도회’를 개최하며 헌법상 보장된 종교의 자유를 침해하지 않는 공정한 수사를 촉구했다.
이날 행사는 한국종교지도자를 포함해 300여 명이 한학자 총재가 수감 중인 서울구치소 앞에서 모여 진행됐다. 이들은 특검팀의 무리한 수사 행태가 대한민국 헌법상 보장된 종교의 자유를 침해하고 있다고 지적했다. 또한, 한학자 총재 구속의 부당성과 종교계 전반에 대한 종교의 자유 침해를 우려하고, 강력히 규탄했다.
특히, 여의도순복음교회, 극동방송, 세계평화통일가정연합 등과 관련된 과도한 압수수색과 조사, 그리고 불교 종단까지 선거 개입 의혹이 담긴 허위 뉴스 확산 현상에 우려를 표명했다.
KCLC는 헌법 제20조가 보장하는 종교의 자유와 민주주의 기반을 보호하기 위해 특검에 세 가지를 강력히 촉구했다.

첫째, 특정 종교에 대한 편견 수사를 중단하고 인권을 존중하는 공정하고 투명한 수사 절차를 준수할 것. 둘째, 종교 활동의 본질을 침해하는 과도한 압수수색과 허위 의혹 보도를 중지할 것. 셋째, 특정 종교 구성원에 대한 일방적이고 인권침해적인 조사를 즉각 중단할 것을 요청했다.
KCLC는 이번 사태가 단순한 종교의 자유 침해를 넘어서 대한민국 민주주의의 근본을 흔드는 심각한 문제임을 강조하며, 모든 종교의 자유를 지키기 위해 끝까지 연대하고 투쟁할 것을 다짐했다.

On October 13, the Korean Religions Association together with the Korean Christian Leadership Conference (KCLC) held the 2nd Religious Freedom Declaration and Prayer Meeting outside Seoul Detention Center, where Han Hak-ja, leader of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, is currently detained. Over 300 religious leaders gathered to demand a fair investigation that respects the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of religion.
The detention of Han Hak-ja, leader of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, has been strongly condemned as an infringement on religious freedom. Critics emphasize the unfair nature of her detention and express concern over broader violations of religious freedom within the religious community. This case has drawn widespread criticism for potentially undermining constitutionally guaranteed religious liberties and destabilizing democratic principles in South Korea.
The attendees criticized the special investigation team's excessive raids and inquiries into religious organizations such as Yoido Full Gospel Church, Far East Broadcasting Company, and the Family Federation. They asserted that these actions infringe upon religious freedom protected under South Korea’s Constitution. Moreover, they expressed deep concern about the spread of false news alleging election interference even involving Buddhist sects, which exacerbates political prejudice crossing religious boundaries.
To safeguard religious freedom guaranteed by Article 20 of the Constitution and to protect the foundations of democracy, the KCLC made three strong demands to the special investigation team.
First, to cease biased investigations targeting specific religions and to adhere to a fair, transparent, and human rights-respecting investigative process. Second, to halt indiscriminate raids infringing upon the core nature of religious activities and to stop spreading false media allegations. Third, to immediately end one-sided investigations and human rights violations against members of particular religious groups.
The KCLC emphasized that the current situation is not merely a violation of religious freedom but a grave threat to the very foundation of South Korean democracy. They vowed unwavering solidarity and determined struggle to defend the freedom of religion for all faiths.
