[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 세계 유일의 유엔기념공원이 소재한 도시로서 국제평화도시의 위상을 강화하기 위해 10월 24일부터 11월 11일까지 ‘2025 부산유엔위크(UN Weeks in Busan)’를 개최한다.
올해 행사는 유엔 창설 80주년을 기념하며 부산에서 최초로 통합 개최되는 공식 행사로, 평화와 연대의 의미를 전 세계에 확산시키는 장이 될 전망이다.
전야제, 유엔의 날 기념만찬과 평화음악회 개최
유엔의 날 전야인 23일 오후 5시, 부산 그랜드 조선호텔에서 유엔 창설 80주년 기념만찬이 열린다. 이준승 부산시 행정부시장, 김진아 외교부 제2차관, 주한 유엔참전국 외교사절 등 국내외 평화외교 관계자 120여 명이 참석해 유엔의 헌신을 되새기고 지속 가능한 평화의 미래를 논의한다.
같은 날 오후 8시에는 부산문화회관 대극장에서 ‘유엔 창설 80주년 평화음악회’가 개최된다. 윤한결 지휘자가 이끄는 부산시립교향악단과 세계적인 소프라노 조수미의 무대가 마련돼, 음악으로 유엔의 평화정신과 전쟁 종식의 메시지를 전한다.
유엔의 날, 부산에서 첫 공식 통합 기념식
유엔 창설 80주년을 맞은 올해, 유엔의 날 기념식은 24일 오전 11시 부산 유엔기념공원에서 열린다. 부산시의 제안으로 서울과 부산에서 나뉘어 열리던 행사가 올해 처음으로 부산에서 통합 개최된다.
기념식에는 박형준 시장, 김진아 외교부 제2차관, 주한 외교단, 유엔기구 관계자, 시민 대표 등 300여 명이 참석해 한국전쟁 참전국 전몰장병을 추모하고 유엔의 80주년을 기린다. 행사는 11개 안장국 국기 입장을 시작으로 헌화, 조총 및 묵념, 기념사, 시민 메시지 전달, 남구소년소녀합창단의 추모 공연 순으로 진행되며, 안토니우 구테흐스 유엔 사무총장의 영상 축사도 공개된다.
특히 부산시민의 평화 메시지를 담은 타임캡슐이 시민 대표로부터 박형준 시장에게 전달되며, 평화의 도시 부산에서 시작된 연대와 화합의 바람이 전 세계로 확산되기를 바라는 시민의 염원을 담는다.
세계평화포럼, 예술로 평화를 말한다
‘세계평화포럼(World Peace Forum 2025)’은 오는 11월 7일 오후 1시 웨스틴조선 부산에서 ‘80년의 약속, 평화의 미래(80 Years of Promise, A Future of Peace)’를 주제로 열린다. 올해로 6회째를 맞은 이번 포럼에는 영화감독 찰라 젠치르치와 기욤 죠바네티가 기조연설자로 나서 ‘세상을 기록하는 일, 평화를 만드는 일’을 주제로 예술의 언어로 인류의 연대와 평화의 가치를 통찰한다.
이와 함께 부산글로벌도시재단은 ‘유스리더토크’와 부산영어방송(BeFM)이 주관하는 ‘평화 특집 공연’ 등 다채로운 프로그램을 운영하며, 부산의 평화 브랜드인 ‘세계 평화 중심도시 부산’을 국제협력 플랫폼으로 발전시키기 위한 노력을 이어간다.

박형준 부산시장은 “유엔 창설 80주년을 맞아 서울과 부산에서 각각 진행되던 공식 행사가 올해 처음으로 부산에서 통합 개최되는 것은 매우 의미 있는 일”이라며, “부산은 유엔이 지켜낸 평화 위에 서 있으며 물류, 금융, 첨단산업, 문화관광이 어우러진 도시로 도약하고 있다”고 강조할 예정이다.
이어 그는 “전몰용사들의 숭고한 희생을 기억하며, 그 평화의 정신을 영원히 이어가는 글로벌 허브 도시로 성장해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-jun) announced that it will host “UN Weeks in Busan 2025” from October 24 to November 11 to reinforce its status as an international city of peace. As the only city in the world with a United Nations Memorial Cemetery, Busan began this annual event in 2019, and it has since become one of the city’s leading global initiatives.
Eve Events: Commemorative Banquet and Peace Concert
On October 23, the eve of United Nations Day, a commemorative banquet marking the 80th anniversary of the UN’s founding will be held at 5 p.m. at the Grand Josun Busan.
Attendees will include Busan’s Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Lee Joon-seung, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Jin-a, ambassadors and diplomats from UN Allied nations, and representatives from the UN Association of Korea — a total of about 120 peace diplomacy officials from Korea and abroad.
During the banquet, participants will honor the UN’s legacy of sacrifice and dedication while reflecting on a sustainable future of peace. Later that day, at 8 p.m., the “UN 80th Anniversary Peace Concert” will take place at the Busan Cultural Center’s Grand Theater. The concert, featuring the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yoon Han-gyeol and world-renowned soprano Sumi Jo, will share the UN’s spirit of peace and the historical significance of its founding through music.
UN Day Ceremony: First Official Joint Celebration Held in BusanTo mark the 80th anniversary of the UN’s founding, the official UN Day Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on October 24 at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan. For the first time, the event — previously held separately in Seoul and Busan — will be jointly hosted in Busan upon the city’s proposal.
The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Park Heong-jun, Vice Minister Kim Jin-a, members of the diplomatic corps, UN agency officials, and citizen representatives — about 300 people in total. The program will pay tribute to the UN soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War and commemorate the UN’s 80-year history of peacekeeping.
The event will begin with a flag procession of 11 UN member states interred in the cemetery, followed by tributes, gun salutes, a moment of silence, speeches, a citizen message presentation, and a memorial performance by the Nam-gu Boys and Girls Choir. A video message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres will also be screened.
A highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of a time capsule containing Busan citizens’ messages of peace to Mayor Park, symbolizing hopes that the wave of peace born in Busan — the city protected by the UN — will spread across the world.
World Peace Forum: “80 Years of Promise, A Future of Peace”
The sixth World Peace Forum 2025 will be held on November 7 at 1 p.m. at the Westin Josun Busan under the theme “80 Years of Promise, A Future of Peace.”
Renowned filmmakers Carla Cencirci and Guillaume Giovanetti will deliver a keynote address titled “Recording the World, Creating Peace,” exploring the intersection of memory, art, and peace as universal human values through the language of storytelling and creativity.
In connection with the forum, the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation will organize a “Youth Leaders Talk” and co-host a “Peace Special Concert” with Busan English Broadcasting (BeFM), further developing Busan’s peace brand — “Busan, the Center of World Peace” — into a sustainable international cooperation platform.
“Busan, a City Built on UN Peace”
During the ceremony, Mayor Park Heong-jun will state, “It is deeply meaningful that this year, marking the UN’s 80th anniversary, the official event is being held as a unified ceremony in Busan for the first time.”
He will emphasize, “Busan stands on the foundation of peace safeguarded by the UN and continues to grow into a global hub city where logistics, finance, advanced industries, and tourism coexist. We will remember the noble sacrifice of the fallen soldiers and carry forward their spirit of peace for generations to come.”
