이번 책축제는 학생과 학부모, 교직원이 함께 책을 매개로 소통하며, 독서문화를 확산하고자 마련됐다.
올해로 16회째를 맞이한 ‘대구 학생 책축제’는 2009년 첫 학생 저자 출판지원 도서가 발간된 이후, 해마다 지역 대표 독서인문 축제로 자리잡았다. 학교, 공공도서관, 지역사회에서 이뤄지는 다양한 독서 활동을 한자리에 모아 나누고 즐기는 장이다.
‘내 손의 책, 내 삶의 힘’을 슬로건으로 내건 이번 축제는 책 읽기, 쓰기, 나누기를 통한 독서의 일상화에 초점을 맞췄다. 주요 프로그램으로는 ‘수품책(수업 품은 책읽기) 마당’, ‘독서·토론·책쓰기 마당’, ‘내 손의 책, 내 삶의 힘’ 독서 실천 마당 등이 준비되어, 가족과 학생, 교직원이 함께 어울릴 수 있는 다채로운 활동이 펼쳐진다.
우선 ‘수품책 마당’에서는 40개 교원 연구회가 참여하는 활동 사례 발표와 전시가 열린다. 25일 오전에는 서울삼정중 이민수 교사의 ‘이럴 땐, 이런 책’ 특강도 예정돼 있다. 또 초·중등 학년별, 교과별 맞춤형 교원 연수 7개 과정이 운영되어 교사들의 전문성 향상에도 힘을 보탠다.
‘독서·토론·책쓰기 마당’에서는 작가 초청 특강과 더불어 다양한 독서 교육 프로그램이 펼쳐진다. 24일 오후 이루리 작가의 ‘삶이 그림책이 될 때’, 같은 날 저녁에는 김민섭 작가의 ‘우리는 조금 더 다정해도 됩니다’ 특강이 열린다. 25일에는 김동식 작가의 ‘글쓰기로 바뀐 인생’ 강연도 진행된다. 학생, 교원, 일반직이 함께 하는 독서토론 실습과 전자책·초단편 소설 쓰기, 독서동아리 운영법 등 실습 프로그램도 마련됐다.
고등학생 독서포럼 역시 이번 축제의 핵심 프로그램 중 하나다. 20개 학교 140여 명의 학생이 참여해 동아리별 탐구 결과를 발표하며, ‘학생(교직원) 저자와의 만남’ 코너에서는 학생과 교직원 저자들이 야외 무대에서 직접 책을 소개하는 시간도 가진다.
가족이 함께할 수 있는 ‘내 손의 책, 내 삶의 힘’ 독서 실천 마당에서는 25일 오후 그림책 뮤지컬 ‘공주를 깨우지 마세요’ 공연을 비롯해, ‘춤추는 가나다라’ 가족 독서 캠프, 도서관 야외 잔디마당에서 ‘책과 함께하는 가을 소풍’, 각종 공모전 시상식 및 수상작 전시가 이어진다.
행사장 야외 부스도 빼놓을 수 없다. 사대부중, 시지고, 한울안중, 경북고, 대구관광고 등 학생 동아리들이 바리스타 체험, 독서놀이, 동화 구연 등 시민과 만나는 다양한 체험 프로그램을 진행한다. 색동어머니회는 어린이 독서체험과 동화 구연으로, 가족 단위 방문객에게 따뜻한 추억을 선사할 예정이다.
축제 관련 세부 일정은 대구시교육청 누리집과 각 학교 누리집에서 확인할 수 있다. 주요 프로그램은 사전 신청을 마친 참가자 외에, 일부 현장 신청도 가능하다.

The "Books in My Hands, the Power of My Life" reading practice area, where families can participate, will feature a performance of the picture book musical "Don't Wake the Princess" on the afternoon of the 25th, followed by the "Dancing Ganadara" family reading camp, an "Autumn Picnic with Books" on the library's outdoor lawn, and an award ceremony and exhibition of award-winning works from various contests.
The outdoor booths at the event venue are also a must-see. Student clubs from Sadaebu Middle School, Sijigo Middle School, Hanul An Middle School, Gyeongbuk High School, and Daegu Tourism High School will host a variety of interactive programs for citizens, including barista training, reading activities, and storytelling. The Saekdong Mothers' Association will provide children's reading experiences and storytelling, creating warm memories for families.
