계양구에 따르면, 이번 공영주차장 조성에는 총사업비 64억 9천만 원(국비 30억 9,900만 원, 특별교부세 4억 원, 특별교부금 12억 원, 구비 17억 9,100만 원)이 투입됐다.
부지면적 823.9㎡, 연면적 2,117㎡에 지상 3층 4단의 타워형 구조로 건립됐으며, 총 81면의 주차공간을 확보해 기존 평면형 대비 약 2배의 효율을 달성했다.
해당 지역은 다세대주택과 도시형 생활주택, 공장 등이 밀집해 만성적인 주차난을 겪어 온 곳으로, 기존 노상 공영주차장만으로는 수요를 감당하기 어려워 주민 불편이 지속돼 왔다.
계양구는 이번 주차장 조성이 지역의 주차환경 개선뿐만 아니라 인근 상권 활성화에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대하고 있다.
