【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군은 새정부 국정과제인 ‘공공기관 2차 이전’ 정책 추진에 맞춰 충북도와 긴밀한 협력을 통해 적극적으로 공공기관 유치 활동을 전개하고 있다고 31일 밝혔다.
현재 충북도는 정부의 공공기관 2차 이전 방향에 대응해 에너지·바이오 ·철도·정보통신·교육·공항·체육 등 7개 분야 32개 중점 유치 대상 기관을 선정하고 연구용역을 추진 중이다.
주요 희망 대상 기관에는 한국지역난방공사, 국민체육진흥공단, 한국석유관리원, 한국공항공사 등이 포함돼 있다.
군은 충북혁신도시(진천·음성)가 국가균형발전과 지역상생을 실현할 최적의 이전지임을 강조하며 도시 내 기존 공공기관과의 연계와 더불어 진천 국가대표선수촌, 산업단지, 교통망 등 지역 인프라의 시너지 효과를 중심으로 유치 논리를 구체화하고 있다.
충북혁신도시는 △중부권 교통의 중심 입지와 수도권과의 접근성 △공공기관 집적에 따른 행정․산업․연구․교육 네트워크 △정주여건과 생활 인프라 △우수 인재 유입 기반 등의 강점을 보유한 지역이다.

무엇보다 충북혁신도시는 1차 공공기관 이전 당시 교육·연구기관 중심으로 구성되면서 대규모 공기업이 부재하고, 이전 기관들의 예산, 매출 규모가 전국 혁신도시 중 최하위 수준에 머무르는 등 지역 발전 잠재력이 충분히 발휘되지 못한 한계를 안고 있었다.
이에 따라 이번 2차 이전에서는 이러한 구조적 불균형을 해소하고, 지역 경제에 파급효과가 큰 공공기관의 추가 이전을 통해 혁신도시의 기능을 보완해야 한다는 공감대가 확산하고 있다.
군은 충북도가 추진 중인 연구용역과 유치 전략 수립 과정에 긴밀히 협조하며 도-군 공동 대응체계를 강화할 계획이다.
또한 중앙부처와 중점 유치 대상 공공기관을 상대로 한 건의·설명 활동에도 적극 참여해 충북혁신도시 중심의 공공기관 2차 이전 실현에 총력을 다할 방침이다.
