파주시가 운정4동 주민의 행정·복지·체육 수요를 한 번에 해결할 복합시설 건립에 본격 착수했다.
파주시는 지난 3일 운정4동 행정복지센터 및 국민체육센터 착공식을 개최하고 공사에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.

이날 착공식에는 김경일 파주시장을 비롯해 경기도의원, 지역 주민 등 100여 명이 참석해 새로운 지역 거점시설의 출범을 축하했다.
운정4동 행정복지센터 및 국민체육센터는 총사업비 301억 원을 투입해 지하 1층부터 지상 3층까지, 연면적 6,337㎡ 규모로 건립된다.
행정복지센터에는 종합민원실, 주민자치센터, 공공도서관, 보건진료소 등이 들어서 주민들의 행정 및 복지 서비스를 원스톱으로 제공한다.
국민체육센터에는 실내체육관, 헬스장, 다목적 GX실 등 생활체육 시설이 마련돼 지역 주민의 건강 증진에 기여할 전망이다.

시는 2027년 6월 준공을 목표로 공사를 진행할 계획이다.
완공 후에는 운정4동 주민의 편의가 크게 향상되고 지역공동체 활성화에도 큰 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.
김경일 파주시장은 "운정4동 행정복지센터와 국민체육센터는 주민이 모이고 함께 성장하는 지역의 중심이 될 것"이라며 "안전하고 효율적인 공사 추진을 통해 시민 여러분께 사랑받는 복합공간으로 완성하겠다"고 말했다.
