【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=한국교육학술정보원(원장 정제영, 이하 케리스)과 연세대학교 AI혁신연구원(총장 겸 원장 윤동섭, 이하 AI혁신연구원)이 AI 기반 교육혁신과 공동 연구를 위한 협력에 본격적으로 나섰다.
양 기관은 지난 10월 31일 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하고, 보유하고 있는 교육 데이터와 AI 기술·인프라를 상호 공유하기로 했다. 이를 바탕으로 연구개발과 교육혁신을 공동 추진하겠다는 방침이다. 주요 협력 분야로는 ▲교육 분야 데이터·AI 기술 공유 및 정보 교류 활성화 ▲AI와 디지털 교육 융합 연구 및 공동 프로젝트 수행 ▲AI 기반 교육 프로그램 개발과 상호 협력 네트워크 조성 등이 꼽힌다.
연세대 AI혁신연구원은 지난 10월 24일 출범했으며, 국내 최대 규모의 AI 단일 연구소다. 기술 및 공학적 연구를 넘어, AI 윤리와 사회적 영향 등 융합 연구도 목표로 하고 있다. 아울러 AI 전문가 양성과 산업-학계 협력 생태계 조성에도 적극 나설 계획이다.
1999년 설립된 케리스는 국내 유일의 디지털 교육혁신 전문기관으로, 인공지능과 디지털 전환 시대에 맞춰 현장 중심의 AI·디지털 기술 연구와 교육혁신 정책 확산을 주도하고 있다.
정제영 케리스 원장은 “25년간 케리스가 축적해온 자원과 노하우에 연세대 AI혁신연구원의 기술력이 더해지면 상상 이상의 시너지가 날 것으로 기대한다”며, “이번 협력을 통해 ‘AI G3 정책’ 등에 부응하는 새로운 교육혁신 성과를 창출해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS, President Jeong Je-young, hereinafter referred to as KERIS) and the Yonsei University AI Innovation Institute (Yonsei AI Innovation Institute, President and Director Yoon Dong-seop, hereinafter referred to as AI Innovation Institute) have begun a full-scale collaboration for AI-based educational innovation and joint research.
On October 31st, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and agreed to share their educational data, AI technology, and infrastructure. Based on this agreement, they plan to jointly pursue research and development and educational innovation. Key areas of cooperation include: ▲ facilitating the sharing of data and AI technology and information exchange in the education sector; ▲ conducting research and joint projects on the convergence of AI and digital education; and ▲ developing AI-based educational programs and fostering a collaborative network.
The Yonsei AI Innovation Institute, launched on October 24th, is Korea's largest single-site AI research institute. Beyond technical and engineering research, it aims to conduct interdisciplinary research on AI ethics and its social impact. It also plans to actively cultivate AI experts and foster an ecosystem of industry-academia cooperation.
Founded in 1999, KERIS is Korea's only specialized digital education innovation institute. It leads field-oriented AI and digital technology research and the expansion of educational innovation policies in line with the era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
KERIS Director Jeong Je-young stated, "I anticipate that combining the resources and expertise accumulated by KERIS over 25 years with the technological prowess of the Yonsei University AI Innovation Research Institute will yield synergy beyond imagination. Through this collaboration, we will create new educational innovation outcomes that meet the 'AI G3 Policy' and other initiatives."
