파주시가 문화체육관광부 주관 '2026년 생활체육시설(국민체육센터) 확충 지원사업' 공모에서 '적성 근린생활형(시니어형) 국민체육센터 건립사업'이 최종 선정돼 국비 40억 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 고령 인구 비율이 높은 적성면 지역 특성을 반영해 어르신과 지역 주민이 함께 이용할 수 있는 시니어 친화형 실내체육시설을 조성하는 것이 핵심이다.
총 130억 원(국비 40억 원, 시비 90억 원)의 사업비가 투입될 예정이다.

건립 예정인 국민체육센터는 지상 2층 규모로 다목적 체육관, 체력단련실, GX(그룹 엑서사이즈)룸, 운동처방실 등 다양한 생활체육 공간을 갖춘 복합형 체육시설로 구성된다.
파주시는 오는 2026년까지 설계 및 행정절차를 완료하고, 2027년 착공해 2028년 개관을 목표로 사업을 추진할 계획이다.
시는 이번 공모 선정을 통해 생활체육 기반시설 확충으로 지역 균형 발전과 주민 복지 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
