이재명 대통령이 16일 한·미 관세 협상 관련해 "국내 투자 특히 지방 균형 발전을 위한 투자에 관심 가져 달라"고 재계에 주문했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실에서 재계 총수들과 함께한 한·미 관세 협상 후속 민관 합동회의에서 "정부는 기업 활동 하는데 장애가 최소화 되도록 총력을 다하겠다"며 "대미 투자가 너무 강화되면서 국내 투자가 줄어들지 않을까 하는 걱정 없도록 잘 조치해줄 걸로 믿는다"며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "안타깝게도 국제 질서 변경에 따라 불가피하게 수동적으로 응할 수밖에 없는 상황 협상이어서 좋은 상황을 만들기보단 나쁜 상황을 만들지 않는 게 최선이었다"며 "그럼에도 불구 남들이 예상 못한 성과라면 성과·방어를 아주 잘 해낸 것 같다"고 했다.
또 "앞으로가 더 중요하며 국민들 먹고 사는 문제만큼 중요한 게 없고 이 문제를 해결하는 첨병은 기업"이라며 "최소 이 정부에선 기업들이 자유롭게 창의적으로 힘 있게 전 세계 상대로 활동하는데 부족함 없도록 최선을 다 할 생각"이라고 했다.
이어 "관세가 올라갔다 하나 전 세계가 똑같이 당하는 일이어서 객관적 조건은 별로 변한 게 없을 것 같다"며 "변화된 상황에 신속 적응하고 그걸 기회로 만들면 우리한테 또 좋은 상황이 도래할 수도 있을 것 같다"고 했다.
더불어 "우리 기업들이 어쩌면 더 안전할 수 있다"며 "정부 입장에서도 우리 국내 기업들이 연관돼 사업하는 게 투자금 회수에 훨씬 더 안전성이 높을 것 같다"고 했다.
이 대통령은 "노동·경영이 양립할 수 없다 생각지 않고 대립적이지 않다"며 "기업 측면에서도 임금 착취란 소리 들어가며 노동 비용을 줄여 국제 경쟁력을 가질 수 있겠느냐 하는 부분은 한번 생각해 볼 필요가 있다"고 했다.
또 "첨단 산업·기술 산업 같은 경우 사실 역량이 문제지 인건비 액수 차원 문제는 아닌 것 같다"며 "(기업들이) 그 문제에 조금 더 관용적이면 어떨까 하는 생각이 든다"고 했다.
이어 "고용 불안정에 대한 노동자들 공포를 해결하려면 사회 안전망을 강화해야 되는데 그 재원 조달 문제들을 터놓고 사회적인 대대적 논쟁을 통해 일정한 합의에 이르러야 하지 않을까 한다"며 "언젠가 숨김 없이 그냥 터놓고 한 번 얘기했음 좋겠다"고 했다.
이재용 삼성전자 회장은 "이런(한미 관세 협상) 결과를 바탕으로 기업들은 후속 작업에도 차질 없도록 정부와 적극 협조하겠다"며 "삼성은 국내 투자 확대·청년의 좋은 일자리 창출·중소 및 벤처 기업과의 상생도 더더욱 노력하겠다"고 했다.
