【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=이재영 충북 증평군수가 17일 이호 한국교통연구원 철도교통연구본부장을 만나 지역 철도 현안 사업의 ‘제5차 국가철도망 구축계획’ 반영을 건의했다.
군이 제5차 국가철도망 구축계획에 요청한 사업은 △충청권 광역철도(CTX) 증평역 연장사업 △중부권 동서횡단철도 건설사업 총 2개 사업이다.
충청권 광역철도(CTX) 증평역 연장사업은 제4차 국가계획에 확정된 충청권 광역철도 노선(대전~세종~청주공항)을 증평역까지 연장하는 사업으로 총연장 11.2km, 사업비는 401억원이다.
중부권 동서횡단 철도 건설사업은 서산에서 울진까지 충청·경북권 13개 시․군, 총연장 329km를 연결하는 사업비 7조2000억원의 대규모 국책사업이다.
이 군수는 특히 충청권 광역철도(CTX) 증평역 연장사업은 충청북도 건의사업 중 최상의 경제적 타당성(B/C 1.078)을 확보한 사업으로 청주 ~ 증평 간 생활권 중심의 철도망 구축을 위해 반드시 필요한 사업임을 강조했다.
군은 사업이 추진되면 증평역은 충청권 지하철 종점역이자, 충북선 분기역으로 그 위상과 역할이 높아질 것으로 보고 있다.
이재영 군수는“충북선 고속화 사업을 비롯해 천안~청주공항 복선전철, 잠실~청주공항 광역철도 사업 등 계획된 철도망이 완료되면 충북은 대한민국 교통 인프라의 중심지가 될 것”이라며 “지역발전과 성장의 기반이 될 사업들이 국가계획에 반드시 반영될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, ‘제5차 국가철도망 구축계획’은 올해 12월 공청회를 거쳐 내년 상반기 확정 고시될 예정이다.

Governor Lee Jae-young stated, "Once the planned railway network, including the Chungbuk Line high-speed project, the Cheonan-Cheongju Airport double-track railway, and the Jamsil-Cheongju Airport metropolitan railway project, is completed, Chungbuk will become the hub of Korea's transportation infrastructure." He added, "I will do my best to ensure that these projects, which will lay the foundation for regional development and growth, are reflected in the national plan."
Meanwhile, the "5th National Railway Network Construction Plan" is scheduled to be finalized and announced in the first half of next year after a public hearing in December of this year.
