파주시는 GTX-A 노선 운정중앙역 상층부 택시승강장에 교통약자 전용 승강장을 설치했다고 밝혔다.

이번 조치는 광역교통 거점인 운정중앙역 이용 시 보행이 어려운 시민과 일시적 휠체어 이용자 등이 먼 거리를 이동하지 않고도 안전하고 편리하게 환승할 수 있도록 교통환경을 개선하기 위해 추진됐다.
교통약자 전용 승강장에는 장애인 전용 승하차 노면 표시, 안내 표지판, 택시 승강장 내 장애인 대기 표시, 점자블록 등이 설치됐다.
또한 지난 18일에는 경기도 이동편의시설기술지원센터와 교통약자이동지원센터 관계자들이 현장을 방문해 설치 기준 적합성과 휠체어 승하차 편의성 등을 꼼꼼히 점검했다.
시는 앞으로 특별교통수단 이용자의 의견을 꾸준히 반영해 시설의 안전성과 실효성을 높여 나갈 계획이며 또한 매년 2개소씩 교통약자 전용 승강장을 확대 설치할 방침이다.
김경일 파주시장은 모든 시민이 안전하고 편리하게 이동할 수 있는 도시 조성을 목표로 하고 있다며 이동에 어려움을 겪는 교통약자를 위한 교통복지 정책을 지속해서 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.
