【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군은 25일 청주충북환경운동연합 사무실에서 ‘2050 탄소중립 및 지역에너지 전환 실현을 위한 상생협력 협약’을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 기후 위기 심화와 제도 환경 변화 속에서 지방정부의 탄소중립 역할 강화에 선제적으로 대응하고자 추진됐다.
충북 최초의 민·관 협력 체계를 공식 구축하면서 양 기관은 기후위기 대응과 에너지 전환을 공동 추진하기로 했다.
협약의 주요 내용은 △지역 맞춤형 탄소중립 기반 구축 △ESG 실천문화 확산과 군민 참여 확대 △신재생에너지 보급 활성화를 위한 지역 거버넌스 운영 등이며, 양 기관은 각 분야에서 지속적이고 실질적인 협력을 추진하기로 합의했다.
이은천 군 경제과장은 “기후위기 대응은 행정의 노력만으로는 한계가 있으며, 시민사회의 전문성과 참여가 결합할 때 비로소 실질적 변화를 이끌 수 있다”며 “이번 협약을 기반으로 진천군이 기후정책과 지역경제 혁신을 동시에 실현하는 기후경제 선도도시로 도약할 것”이라고 강조했다.
한편 군은 그동안 신재생에너지 보급 확대, 에코머니 제도 운영, 환경교육, 탄소중립 실천운동 전개 등 다양한 분야에서 환경·에너지 전환 정책을 추진해 왔으며, 이번 협약을 계기로 지역 중심의 탄소중립 실행력을 더욱 강화할 방침이다.
