【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=음성군은 지난 6월부터 일부 지역을 제외해 운행 중이던 동서울-수안보 시외버스 노선이 12월 15일부터 생극면 등을 경유해 운행을 전면 재개한다고 밝혔다.
이로써 지난 6월 노선 중단 이후 서울을 오가는 길에 큰 불편을 겪어왔던 생극면 주민들의 바람이 이뤄졌다.
버스업체 측은 지속되는 적자 상황을 유지할 수 없어 경유지인 음성군(생극), 충주시(용원, 주덕, 수안보)를 제외하는 노선 조정을 선택한 것으로 알려졌다.
생극 지역 주민들은 지난 6월 노선 중단 이후 서울 접근성이 크게 떨어져 통근·의료·행정서비스 이용 등에 상당한 불편을 겪어 왔다.
이에 군은 주민들의 고충을 조속히 해결하기 위해 단독 대응을 넘어 충청북도, 충청북도의회, 동일한 문제를 겪고 있는 충주시와 공동 대응에 나섰다.
수차례 논의 및 간담회를 갖고 지속적인 설득 과정을 거쳤으며, 최종 12월 15일부터 1일 왕복 6회 버스 운행을 전면 재개하기로 협의했다.
군 관계자는 “이번 시외버스 운행 재개로 군민 여러분의 교통 복지에 조금이나마 기여할 수 있게 됐다. 도움을 주신 모든 분께 감사드린다”며 “군은 앞으로도 군민이 체감할 수 있는 편리한 선진 교통행정을 추진해 삶의 질 향상에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 이번 전면 재개되는 노선은 동서울-일죽-생극-용원-주덕-건국대-수안보이며, 생극면에서 상행(동서울)은 07:15부터, 하행(수안보)은 11:15부터 각각 6회 운영된다.
