【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=증평군자원봉사종합센터는 4일 증평문화회관에서 자원봉사자 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2025년 증평군 자원봉사자의 날 기념식’을 개최했다.
자원봉사자의 날(12월 5일)은 자원봉사활동에 대한 참여를 촉진하고 자원봉사자의 사기를 높이기 위해 1985년 국제연합(UN)이 정한 날로, 우리나라도 2005년 법정기념일로 지정해 올해로 20회째를 맞았다.
이날 기념식은 축하 공연을 시작으로 △2025년 자원봉사 활동 영상 시청 △자원봉사 릴레이기 반납 △유공자 시상 순으로 진행됐다.
현장의 봉사자들은 한 해 동안의 활동을 되돌아보며 서로의 노고를 격려하는 시간을 가졌다.
올해 증평군 자원봉사 릴레이 사업에는 2월부터 11월까지 총 30개 단체가 참여했으며, 단체별 특성을 살린 봉사활동을 마무리하고 이날 행사에서 릴레이기 반납이 이뤄졌다.
이어 진행된 유공자 시상에서는 증평군수 표창 등 우수 자원봉사자 28명과 봉사단체 7개에서 수상의 영예를 안았다.
김남순 센터장은 기념사에서 “올 한 해도 증평군 자원봉사 활성화를 위해 함께 해 준 직원과 자원봉사자의 노고에 깊이 감사드린다”며 “내년에도 자원봉사자와 늘 함께하는 센터가 되겠다”고 말했다.
이재영 군수는 “단수 사태 때 보여준 자원봉사자들의 헌신은 지역사회를 지탱하는 큰 힘이었다”며 “자원봉사의 중요성에 대한 인식을 제고하고 자원봉사가 더욱 활성화될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 격려했다.

Jeungpyeong County Volunteer Center Holds '25 Volunteer Day Commemoration Ceremony
The Jeungpyeong County Volunteer Center held the '2025 Jeungpyeong County Volunteer Day Commemoration Ceremony' on December 4th at the Jeungpyeong Cultural Center, with approximately 200 volunteers in attendance.
Volunteer Day (December 5th) was designated by the United Nations in 1985 to promote volunteerism and boost volunteer morale. South Korea also designated it a statutory holiday in 2005, marking its 20th anniversary this year.
The commemoration ceremony began with a congratulatory performance, followed by a video of volunteer activities in 2025, the return of volunteer relay flags, and an awards ceremony for those who contributed.
Volunteers reflected on the past year's activities and encouraged each other's hard work.
A total of 30 organizations participated in this year's Jeungpyeong County Volunteer Relay Project from February to November. Each organization completed its unique volunteer activities and returned the relay flags at the event.
Following the awards ceremony, 28 outstanding volunteers and seven volunteer organizations received awards, including commendations from the Jeungpyeong County Mayor.
In his commemorative address, Center Director Kim Nam-soon said, "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers who have worked with us to revitalize Jeungpyeong County volunteerism this year. We will continue to be a center that supports volunteers next year."
County Mayor Lee Jae-young encouraged the volunteers, saying, "The dedication of our volunteers during the water outage was a tremendous force in sustaining the local community. We will do our best to raise awareness of the importance of volunteerism and further promote its growth."
