【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군은 지난 11월 대전 목원대학교에서 열린 ‘2025 WCRC 자율주행 자동차 미션 챌린지’에서 진천군 김해서(진천 상신초) 학생이 은상을 수상했다고 4일 밝혔다.
이번 본선 대회는 ㈜새온과 목원대학교 RISE 사업단이 주관하고 한국과학로봇교육콘텐츠협회가 주최했으며, 지난 11월 15일부터 2일간 목원대학교 체육관에서 개최됐다.
대회에는 전국 초·중·고 대학생 57개 팀 114명이 참여해 자율주행 로봇 ‘알티노(ALTINO)’를 활용, AI 미션 수행 능력을 겨뤘다.
진천군 학생을 대상으로 진행되는 K-스마트 인공지능(AI) 교육지원 사업의 영재학급 심화 교육과정에 참여 중인 김해서 학생은 이번 대회 대학 일반부문에서 은상(국가기술표준원장상)을 수상했다.
김 군은 이번 대회에서 앞선 지난 8월 제14회 로봇 융합 페스티벌 자율주행 자동차 AI 미션 챌린지 일반부에서 대상을 거머쥐기도 했다.
이은영 군 교육지원팀장은 “진천의 AI 교육을 통해 우리 지역 인재가 두각을 드러내는 사례가 늘어나 보람차다”며 “앞으로도 지역 인재 양성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, K-스마트 인공지능(AI) 교육지원 사업의 영재학급 심화 과정은 관내 학생 초등학생 17명, 중학생 15명으로 구성돼, 최신 AI·SW 교구를 배우는 과정이며, 심화 과정 수료 학생들의 작품 전시회가 오는 27일 충북 혁신도시복합혁신센터에서 열릴 예정이다.

The final round of the competition, hosted by Saeon Co., Ltd. and the Mokwon University RISE Project Team and organized by the Korea Science Robot Education Content Association, took place at the Mokwon University gymnasium for two days, starting on November 15th.
The competition featured 114 students from 57 teams representing elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide, competing to demonstrate their AI mission capabilities using the autonomous robot "ALTINO."
Kim Hae-seo, a student participating in the K-Smart Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Support Project's gifted class advanced curriculum for students in Jincheon County, won the silver medal (National Agency for Technology and Standards Director's Award) in the general university category of this year's competition.
Prior to this competition, Kim also won the grand prize in the general category of the autonomous vehicle AI mission challenge at the 14th Robot Convergence Festival in August.
Lee Eun-young, head of the county's education support team, said, "It's rewarding to see more local talents excelling through Jincheon's AI education. We will continue to do our best to foster local talent."
Meanwhile, the K-Smart Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Support Project's gifted class advanced curriculum consists of 17 elementary school students and 15 middle school students. Students will learn the latest AI and software tools. An exhibition of the students' work will be held at the Chungbuk Innovation City Complex Innovation Center on the 27th.
