【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군은 송기섭 진천군수가 중부권 광역급행철도(JTX) 조기 착공을 위한 행정협의체의 초대 회장으로 선출됐다고 5일 밝혔다.
이로써 성남, 광주, 용인, 화성, 안성, 진천, 청주 등 7개 지방정부가 뜻을 모은 ‘중부권 광역급행철도 조기 착공 행정협의체’가 본격적인 활동을 시작하게 됐다.
본 협의체는 수도권과 충청권을 잇는 핵심 광역철도망인 중부권 광역급행철도 조기 추진을 목표로 하며, 기존 수도권내륙선 협의체(화성·안성·진천·청주)를 확대·통합해 보다 폭넓은 협력 기반을 마련했다.
송 군수의 임기는 2025년 12월 15일부터 2026년 6월 30일까지다.
협의체는 단순한 정보 교류를 넘어, 단계별 사업 추진계획, 지방저부별 역할 분담, 중앙정부 대응 전략 등을 공동으로 논의·조정하는 실질적 운영 구조를 갖춘 것이 특징이다.
향후 지자체 간 의견 조율, 사업 관련 주요 정보의 체계적 연동, 단계별 공동 대응 등을 통해 사업 과정에서 발생하는 문제를 신속히 해결하고 추진 속도도 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
한편 초대 회장 지방정부인 진천군은 교통 인프라 확충을 위한 중심적 역할을 맡게 됐다.
군은 그동안 수도권내륙선 협의체 활동을 비롯해 충청권~수도권 교통망 확충의 필요성을 지속적으로 제기해 왔으며, 이를 바탕으로 광역철도 사업을 중부권 전체의 공동 현안으로 확장하는 데 중요한 역할을 했다.
지난 10월 청주국제공항에서 7개 지방정부가 함께 개최한‘중부권 광역급행철도 결의대회’ 역시 진천군에서 주관한 바 있다.
이번 협의체 구성 과정에서도 송기섭 군수를 중심으로 군이 주도적으로 나서며 지방정부 간 의견 조율과 협력 기반을 마련했다.
협의체 출범으로 각 지방정부는 국토교통부 등 중앙부처와의 정책 협의 과정에서 더 체계적이고 힘 있는 대응이 가능해졌으며, 공동 대응전략 마련 역시 한층 수월해질 것으로 기대를 모은다.
협의체는 착공 시점까지 운영 예정이며, 정기·수시 회의 등을 통해 단계별 추진 상황을 점검하고 주요 현안을 신속히 공유할 계획이다.
앞으로 국토부, KDI 등 관계기관에 공동건의문을 전달하는 등 정책적 대응에도 적극 나설 계획이다.
