[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군이 내년 2건의 전국규모 배드민턴대회 유치 협약을 체결했다고 6일 밝혔다.
군은 지난 4일 제3회 이용대배 꿈나무 최강전과 2026 김학석배 전국 종별 배드민턴선수권대회(초등) 총 2건의 전국규모 배드민턴대회 유치 협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약식에는 김윤철 합천군수, 이용국 한국초등배드민턴연맹회장, 김민섭 대한배드민턴협회 부회장, 박무창 경남배드민턴협회 부회장, 유달형 합천군체육회장, 박민좌 경제문화국장, 조홍남 체육지원과장이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.
이용국 한국초등배드민턴연맹 회장은 "실내종목에 적합한 시설을 갖춘 스포츠도시 합천에서 내년에 전국규모 배드민턴대회를 개최하게 돼 무척 감격스럽다"며, "합천군과 함께하는 배드민턴의 부흥이 기대된다"고 밝혔다.
김민섭 대한배드민턴협회 부회장은 "스포츠 명품 도시 합천에서 초등 배드민턴 선수권대회를 열게 돼 기쁘다"며 "배드민턴 유망주의 발전을 합천과 함께 하게 돼 영광이다"고 말했다.
김윤철 군수는 "이번 협약으로 전국 배드민턴의 꿈나무대회와 선수권대회를 개최하게 돼 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다"며, "합천군이 배드민턴 종목의 중심지로 발전할 수 있도록 최선의 지원을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
이번 협약으로 합천군은 내년에 전국규모 배드민턴대회(초등)를 2차례 개최하게 될 뿐만 아니라 배드민턴 성인 엘리트 선수들의 최고 권위 대회인 대학·실업연맹대회도 예정돼있어 배드민턴 중심지로의 도약이 기대된다.
