‘봉학골 주차장 조성사업’과 ‘농촌신활력플러스사업 푸드플러스센터 건립’을 반영한 충청북도 지역개발계획(2019.~2028.) 변경안이 국토교통부로부터 지난 5일 최종 승인을 받았다.
지역개발계획은 성장 잠재력을 보유한 낙후 지역 또는 거점지역과 그 인근 지역을 종합적·체계적으로 발전시키기 위해 수립하는 법정 계획이다.
당초 음성군은 이 계획에 ‘신천보부산업단지 교량 재가설사업’을 반영했으나, 2021년 12월 산업단지 지정이 취소되면서 대체 사업 발굴이 불가피했다.
군은 이에 따라 봉학골 주차장 조성사업과 농촌신활력플러스사업 푸드플러스센터 건립을 변경계획안으로 제출했고, 이번 국토교통부 승인을 받으며 사업 추진에 탄력을 받게 됐다.
현재 봉학골 산림욕장은 154면 규모의 주차장을 운영 중이나 충청북도 지방정원 조성 이후 주말과 성수기마다 주차 공간이 부족해 이용객 불편이 지속적으로 제기돼 왔다.
군은 18억4900만원(국비16억4900만원, 군비2억원)을 들여 2027년 상반기까지 봉학골 주차장 조성사업을 추진해 354면으로 주차면을 대폭 확대할 계획이다.
이번 사업을 통해 기존 산림욕장과 지방정원 방문객은 물론 2026년 운영 예정인 산림레포츠단지와 2028년 조성되는 목조건축실연사업(목조체험시설)의 주차 수요까지 안정적으로 수용할 수 있을 것으로 전망된다.
또한 농촌신활력플러스사업으로 추진 중인 푸드플러스센터도 이번 국토교통부 승인으로 추진 동력을 얻게 됐다.
센터 내 음식점 설치가 가능해지면서 산림욕장·지방정원·산림레포츠단지·목조체험장을 찾는 방문객들이 식사를 위해 봉학골 외부로 가야 하는 번거로움이 해소돼 만족도가 높아질 것으로 기대된다.
군은 2027년 상반기 준공을 목표로 하고 있으며 농가 판로 확대와 지역 상권 활성화는 물론, ‘산책-체험-식사-쇼핑’으로 이어지는 체류형 관광 동선을 완성한다는 구상이다.
군 관계자는 “이번 지역개발계획 변경 승인을 통해 체류형 복합 관광거점으로 성장할 수 있는 토대가 마련됐다”며 “먹고, 즐기고, 느끼고, 머무를 수 있는 음성군 관광벨트를 구축해 지역경제 활성화와 농촌 소득 증대로 이어지도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
