어린이들에게 한글의 매력과 소중함을 전하는 세종시만의 특별한 체험전시공간이 문을 열었다.
세종시는 11일 세종문화예술회관에서 국립한글박물관 한글놀이터 세종관 개관식을 갖고 운영에 들어갔다.
이날 개관식에는 최민호 시장과 강정원 국립한글박물관장, 김동빈 시의회 부의장 등이 참석해 어린이를 위한 새로운 한글 체험전시공간의 개관을 축하했다.
한글놀이터 세종관은 ‘한글, 어린이가 소통하고 성장하게 만드는 힘’을 주제로 국립한글박물관과 세종시문화관광재단, 시가 협력해 조성한 어린이 한글 체험 공간이다.
특히 국립한글박물관의 실감형 한글체험전시 ‘한글놀이터’를 한글문화도시 세종시 특색에 맞춰 재구성해 한글의 원리와 아름다움을 쉽고 재미있게 접할 수 있다.
전시 구역은 ▲말랑통통 마을의 풍경 ▲친구야! 한글놀이터에서 놀래? ▲꿈꾸는 나의 방 등 3개 주제로 구성됐다.
각 구역에서는 한글의 자음과 모음을 탐구하고 소리와 모양의 관계를 놀이로 익히며 창제 원리를 자연스럽게 익힐 수 있다.
한글놀이터 세종관에서 처음 선보이는 ‘말랑요정’ 캐릭터도 눈길을 끈다.
한글의 자음·모음을 바탕으로 한글의 확장성과 아이들의 상상력이 모두 담긴 ‘말랑요정’은 한글의 원리를 간편하고 알기 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 돕는다.
한글놀이터 세종관은 매주 화요일부터 일요일까지 오전 10시부터 오후 6시까지 운영되며 매주 월요일과 매년 1월 1일, 설날·추석 당일은 휴관한다.
관람 희망자는 관련 누리집(한글문화도시.kr)에서 1∼7회차로 나뉜 체험 시간을 선택해 사전 예약 후 방문하면 된다.
입장은 8세 이하 어린이와 동반가족이면 가능하며 관람료는 무료다.
최민호 시장은 “행복청장 당시 세종대왕의 묘호를 물려받은 세종시에서 한글의 명품성을 느낄 수 있도록 또 그 혼을 담아내기 위해 도시의 교량과 학교 공공건물의 이름을 우리말로 지었다”며 “우리 세종시 전체가 어린이들의 한글 놀이터라고 말할 수 있는 이유”라고 말했다.
이어 “한글놀이터 세종관 조성을 위해 애써주신 모든 분께 감사드리며 남녀노소 누가 보아도 한글이라는 우리 고유문자의 품격을 느낄 수 있는 도시, 세종시가 되도록 노력할 것”이라고 강조했다.
