브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 한화시스템이 한미 연합작전을 총괄하는 핵심 지휘통제체계의 전면 재구축 사업을 수주했다. 전시작전통제권 전환을 앞둔 상황에서 한국군 주도의 연합작전을 지원하는 최초의 AI 기반 지휘체계가 구축될 전망이다.
한화시스템은 방위사업청이 발주한 937억 원 규모(부가가치세 제외)의 ‘연합지휘통제체계(AKJCCS·Allied Korea Joint Command Control System) 성능개량 체계개발’ 사업을 따냈다고 밝혔다.
AKJCCS는 한반도 전역에서 한미 연합작전에 대한 지휘·통제를 수행하는 핵심 체계로, 2015년 처음 전력화됐다. 그러나 운영 과정에서의 시스템·보안 이슈와 함께 전작권 전환, 연합 지휘구조 변화에 따른 기술 고도화 필요성이 제기되면서 단순 성능 개선이 아닌 체계 전면 재개발이 추진됐다.
이번 성능개량 사업에는 인공지능(AI) 기반 상황 분석 및 자동화 의사결정 지원 기능을 비롯해 클라우드 기반 서버 구축, VDI(데스크톱 가상화) 적용 등 첨단 ICT 기술이 대거 도입된다. 특히 국내 지휘통제체계 가운데 처음으로 AI 기술이 본격 적용되는 사업이라는 점에서 의미가 크다.
AI는 전장에서 발생하는 방대한 데이터를 신속하게 수집·분석해 운용자의 업무 부담을 줄이고, 정보 분석부터 작전 계획 수립에 이르는 지휘 결심 전 과정에 지능형 서비스를 제공하게 된다. 이를 통해 지휘관의 판단 정확성과 작전 효율성이 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

한화시스템 관계자는 “이번 사업 수주는 한화시스템이 보유한 국내 최고 수준의 방산·ICT 융합 역량을 다시 한번 입증한 사례”라며 “국방 AI 기반 기술을 바탕으로 미래 전장을 선도하는 핵심 기업으로 역할을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 한화시스템은 지난 40여 년간 중앙방공통제소(MCRC) 성능개량을 비롯해 한미 연합군사정보처리체계(MIMS-C), 한국형 탄도탄 작전통제소(KAMDOC), 대대급 이하 전투지휘체계(B2CS), 군사정보통합처리체계(MIMS) 등 다양한 지휘통제·감시정찰 체계를 공급하며 국내 지휘통제·통신 분야 대표 기업으로 자리매김해 왔다.
