계양구에 따르면, 이번 특별교부세는 최근 3년간 계양구가 지원받은 규모 가운데 가장 큰 수준으로, 세수 감소 등으로 어려운 재정 여건 속에서도 지역 현안 해결을 위한 사업의 필요성과 시급성 등을 종합적으로 검토한 결과이다.

확보된 재원은 계양산전통시장 주차환경 개선 사업(20억 원), 계양구 노인복지관 환경개선 지원 사업(5억 원), 효성노인문화센터 환경개선 지원 사업(3억 원), 효성1동 행복마을 가꿈사업(3억 원), 작전역 견인보관소 주차환경 개선사업(2억 원), 고양골 공영주차장 내 견인보관소 이전 설치 사업(2억 원) 등 6개 사업에 투입될 예정이다.

해당 사업들은 전통시장 이용 편의 제고, 노인복지시설 환경 개선, 주거 및 주차 여건 정비 등 주민 생활과 밀접한 분야를 중심으로 추진된다. 

계양구는 이번 특별교부세 확보를 통해 외부 재원을 활용함으로써 구비 부담을 일부 완화하고, 보다 안정적인 재정 운용에 도움이 될 것으로 보고 있다.
