지난해 지역경제는 고물가·고금리 장기화와 원·달러 환율 상승, 고용불안, 누적된 가계·기업부채 등 복합적인 대내외 변수로 그 어느 때보다 어려운 한 해를 보냈다.
경기 둔화가 장기화하는 상황에서 지방정부의 적극적인 재정 역할이 요구됐으며 군은 지방재정 신속집행을 통해 실질적인 경기 방어선 역할을 수행했다.
군은 2025년 4분기 소비·투자 분야 재정집행 실적에서 행정안전부가 설정한 목표액인 710억 원을 크게 웃도는 820억 원을 집행(달성률 115%)하며, 충청북도 11개 시·군 중 1위를 차지했다.
군은 연초부터 지역경제 침체에 따른 민생 위기를 선제적으로 인식하고, 부군수를 단장으로 하는 ‘신속집행추진단’을 구성해 본격적인 재정집행 관리에 나섰다.
추진단은 △사업 공정률을 반영한 현실적인 예산 편성 △분기별 부서 순회 점검 △추진 상황 보고회 개최 △대규모 투자사업, 집행 부진 사업 집중 관리 등 체계적인 관리 시스템을 통해 집행률을 높였다.

해당 사업들은 단기적인 재정집행 효과에 그치지 않고, 2026년 이후 진천군민의 생활 편의 증진과 안전망 강화, 지역 균형발전의 기반을 다지는 중장기 자산으로 이어질 전망이다.
