[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군이 현장 중심의 연구와 교육 활동을 펼친 결과 합천 사과가 전국 최고가 경매 가격을 기록했다.
군은 품목별 농업인연구회 활동을 적극 지원·육성하고 있는 가운데 합천 사과연구회 회원들이 설 명절을 앞두고 저장 사과를 선별·출하해 도매시장에서 전국 최고가 경매 가격을 받아 주목받고 있다.
가야면 매화리에서 사과를 재배하는 김주현 사과연구회 부회장이 생산한 부사 미얀마 품종 사과(20kg 기준)는 지난 16일 경매에서 500g 이상 상품이 42만원, 384g 이상 상품이 40만9,000원에 낙찰되며 전국 1등 가격을 기록했다.
김주현 부회장은 품목별 농업인연구회 과제 활동에 적극 참여하며 재배기술 향상과 품질 고급화에 힘써 왔고, 그 결과 지속적으로 우수한 경매 실적을 거두고 있다.
이러한 성과는 합천 사과의 브랜드 가치와 시장 경쟁력을 다시 한 번 입증하는 계기가 됐다.
오상목 사과연구회장은 2021년 가야면 사과 재배 농가를 중심으로 결성되어 매년 현장실습 중심의 교육과 공동 과제 수행을 통해 재배기술을 꾸준히 향상시키고 있다.
특히 청년 농업인들이 중심이 되어 연구회 활동을 주도하며 조직 운영과 기술 확산 측면에서 모범적인 사례로 평가받고 있다.
한호상 농업기술센터 소장은 “전문강사 초빙 현장교육과 맞춤형 컨설팅 등 품목별 농업인연구회 육성 사업이 현장에서 실질적인 성과로 나타나고 있다”며 “현재 사과연구회를 비롯한 19개 품목별 농업인연구회, 288명의 회원이 활동 중으로, 앞으로도 자발적인 연구·교육 활동을 적극 지원해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
