26일 포천시에 따르면, 지난 23일 백영현 포천시장을 비롯해 포천시의회 의장, 지역 기관·단체장 및 마을 주민들이 참석한 가운데 ‘성동5리 경로당·마을회관 준공식’이 성황리에 개최됐다.
이번에 새롭게 단장한 성동5리 경로당은 지은 지 30년이 넘어 노후하고 공간이 협소했던 기존 시설을 철거하고 신축한 것으로, 어르신들이 안전하고 쾌적한 환경에서 여가를 즐길 수 있도록 세심하게 설계됐다.
이날 행사에서는 강대복 노인회장과 강혜연 이장 등 마을 관계자들이 참석해 기쁨을 나눴으며, 준공을 계기로 지역 어르신들의 복지 향상은 물론 마을 공동체 활성화에도 큰 기여를 할 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

백영현 포천시장은 “오랫동안 불편을 겪으셨을 어르신들께서 이제는 따뜻하고 편안한 공간에서 정을 나누실 수 있게 되어 매우 뜻깊다”며, “이 공간이 어르신들께는 하루하루가 즐거운 쉼터가 되고, 주민들에게는 소통과 화합의 중심지가 되길 바란다”고 축사를 전했다.
