호남 철도의 관문인 익산역이 고속철도ㆍ버스ㆍ택시 등 모든 교통수단을 한곳에서 누리는 '미래형 복합환승센터'로 탈바꿈 된다.
29일 전북 익산시에 따르면 국토교통부 대도시권광역교통위원회(이하 대광위)가 익산역 일원에서 '복합환승센터 혁신모델 컨설팅 지원사업' 현장 답사를 실시했다.
이번 답사는 지난달 익산시가 국토부 대광위의 혁신모델 컨설팅 공모에 최종 선정된 후속 절차로 이뤄졌다.
현장 답사는 대광위 관계자ㆍ국토연구원ㆍ민간 전문가 등이 익산역 철도시설과 환승 체계 및 주변 도시재생 사업 현황을 점검하는 진행됐다.
특히 ▲ 익산역 일원 이용 현황 ▲ 환승 연계 핵심 시설 배치 ▲ 환승시설 핵심 점포(앵커테넌트) 유치 방안 ▲ 공공정책 사업과 연계성 등이 중점적으로 다뤄졌다.
복합환승센터 혁신모델은 고속도로 휴게소·철도역 여유부지 등 저이용 공공부지를 활용해 다양한 대중교통수단 간 환승과 복합개발을 연계하는 형식이다.
백화점 외에도 실버ㆍ청년 주택ㆍ의료시설ㆍ복합엔터ㆍ관광지원ㆍ생활SOC 등 다양한 입주시설을 포함한다.
