대전시교육감 선거에 출마한 맹수석 예비후보가 6·3 지방선거 예비후보 등록 첫날부터 ‘소통과 포용’을 키워드로 한 행보에 나섰다.
충남대학교 제3대 법학전문대학원장을 지낸 맹수석 예비후보는 3일 대전시선거관리위원회를 찾아 예비후보 등록과 함께 “대전교육의 낡은 틀을 깨고 우리 아이들이 행복한 미래로 나아갈 수 있는 길을 열겠다”며 “위기에 처한 대전교육을 소통과 화합으로 되살리겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
맹 후보는 교육 현장의 목소리를 직접 듣기 위한 첫 일정으로 사회복지법인 한마음·한뜻·한몸 시설을 방문했다. 그는 장애학생들의 생활 현장을 둘러보며 “특수교육 환경이 여전히 열악하다”며 “이는 교육 문제를 넘어 사회 전체가 함께 풀어가야 할 포용의 과제”라고 강조했다.
예비후보 등록에는 퇴임 교사 이춘용·나선주 선생님과 시민활동가 최지현 씨, 대전교육행동 천성애 대표가 함께 동행해 교육 현장에서의 변화 의지를 드러냈다.

맹수석 후보는 이날 다섯 가지 핵심 공약을 제시했다.
맹 후보의 공약으로는 모든 학생의 학습권을 보장하는 ‘든든한 책임교육’, 과학도시 대전의 특성을 살린 ‘스마트 미래교육’, 민주시민 역량을 키우는 ‘따뜻한 시민교육’, 폭력 없는 안전한 학교를 위한 ‘안심 교육환경 조성’, 마지막으로 청렴하고 효율적인 행정을 위한 ‘투명한 교육행정’ 등을 공약했다.
그는 “대전 학생들이 기초학력에서 뒤처지지 않도록 맞춤형 지원 체계를 강화하고, 지역 과학·문화 인프라를 활용한 융합형 교육으로 미래인재를 육성하겠다”며 “교사의 업무 부담을 줄이고, 공정한 인사·재정 행정을 통해 교육 본연의 역할을 되찾겠다”고 밝혔다.
맹수석 예비후보는 앞으로도 대전 각 교육현장을 직접 방문해 교사·학부모·학생 등 다양한 교육 주체의 의견을 수렴하고, 현장에서 나온 문제점을 실질적인 정책으로 구체화 한다는 계획이다.
