<지역인재, 지역에서 키운다>를 주제로 열린 이날 간담회에서는 괴산 맞춤형 교육과 진로 지원 확대를 통해 학생 유출을 줄이고 지역 정착 기반을 강화하는 방안과 함께, 사교육 의존 완화 및 공교육 경쟁력 강화 필요성에 대한 의견이 논의됐다.
충북교육청과 괴산군은 지난해 8월 지역소멸 위기 대응을 위해 괴산고등학교 입학정원을 132명에서 138명으로 확대했다.
괴산고등학교는 지역 유일의 고등학교로, 농산어촌 교육여건 개선을 위한 교육모델 학교로 운영되고 있으며 2024학년도 자율형공립고 2.0에 지정돼 지역 교육 경쟁력 강화의 거점 역할을 하고 있다.
한편 이날 간담회에서는 체인지앱을 활용한 지역 탐방 활성화 업무협약도 체결됐다.
체인지앱은 충북교육청이 2024년 9월 전국 최초로 개통한 GPS 기반 체험형 플랫폼으로, 학교 안과 밖을 연결하는 교육활동을 지원하며 도내 11개 시·군과 협력해 조성한 둘레길·유적지·지역 명소 등 탐방코스를 탑재하고 있다.
이번 괴산군과의 업무협약은 체인지앱 기반 학생 체험활동과 지역경제를 연계하는 상생 협력 모델을 본격 추진하기 위한 것이다.
괴산군은 괴산사랑상품권 구입 예산을 지원하고, 도교육청은 이를 활용한 괴산 탐방 이벤트를 운영한다. 양 기관은 이를 통해 가족 단위 방문을 확대하고 지역 상권 이용을 촉진함으로써 교육과 지역경제의 선순환 구조 구축을 공동으로 추진할 계획이다.
송인헌 괴산군수는 “교육은 인구 감소 시대에 지역의 지속가능성을 좌우하는 핵심 정책”이라며 “학생과 가족이 괴산을 찾는 계기가 확대되도록 적극 협력하겠다.”라고 말했다.
윤건영 교육감은 “지역과 관계없이 자신의 적성을 발견하고 진로를 설계할 수 있는 환경을 만드는 것이 공교육의 역할”이라며 “학부모와 현장의 목소리를 정책에 반영해 지역과 함께 성장하는 교육을 실현하겠다.”라고 밝혔다. 이어 “체인지앱을 통해 배움이 지역을 살리는 협력 모델을 구축하겠다.”라고 강조했다.
