【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=단양군은 군민이 함께 책을 읽고 소통하는 독서문화 확산을 위해 ‘단양군민 함께 한 책 읽기 운동’을 추진하고 참여 기관을 모집한다.
이 사업은 단양군립올누림도서관이 주관해 매년 ‘단양의 책’을 선정하고 군민이 함께 읽고 토론하는 독서문화 프로그램이다.
지난해 진행된 ‘2025 단양군민 함께 한 책 읽기 운동’에는 ‘단양의 책’ 선정 투표와 독서 릴레이 참여자를 포함해 총 2,599명이 참여했다.
또 관내 유치원과 초·중학교 등 6개 기관에서 작가가 직접 학교를 찾아가는 ‘학교로 찾아가는 독서 프로그램’이 운영돼 학생들이 작가와 소통하며 책에 대한 이해를 높이는 시간을 가졌다.
이와 함께 BOOK콘서트 등 다양한 독서 문화 행사도 열려 군민들이 책을 매개로 소통하는 계기를 마련했다.
올누림도서관은 이러한 성과를 바탕으로 올해에도 ‘단양군민 함께 한 책 읽기 운동’을 이어갈 계획이다.
운영 기간은 3월부터 12월까지이며 단양군민 전 연령을 대상으로 진행된다.
이번 사업은 기관·단체가 참여하는 독서 릴레이 방식으로 운영된다.
첫 참여자가 책을 읽은 뒤 다음 참여자에게 전달하는 방식으로 진행되며, 도서는 4월 중순 참여 기관에 전달될 예정이다.
독서 릴레이는 4월부터 12월까지 이어진다.
또한 올해도 희망 학교를 대상으로 ‘작가와의 만남’ 프로그램을 운영하고 BOOK콘서트와 다양한 체험 프로그램 등 독서문화 행사를 함께 추진할 계획이다.
올해 선정된 ‘2026 단양의 책’은 분야별로 어린이·청소년·일반 분야 각 1권씩 총 3권이다.
어린이 분야는 최아영 작가의 ‘나의 쓸모’, 청소년 분야는 범유진 작가의 ‘도서관 문이 열리면’, 일반 분야는 김영하 작가의 ‘단 한 번의 삶’이다.
도서관 관계자는 “지난해 군민들의 높은 참여로 한 책 읽기 운동이 지역 독서문화 확산에 의미 있는 성과를 거뒀다”며 “올해도 관내 기관과 단체, 학교, 어린이집, 지역아동센터 등의 많은 참여를 기대한다”고 말했다.
