【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충청북도교육청은 10일, 청주교육대학교에서 기초학력 전담교사의 전문성을 강화하고 학생 맞춤형 기초학력 지원을 확대하기 위해 <2026년 상반기 기초학력 전담교사 역량강화 워크숍>을 개최했다.
기초학력 전담교사는 초등 저학년 학생 가운데 읽기 곤란, 기초 연산 곤란, 난독증, 경계선 지능 등으로 일반 수업 참여에 어려움을 겪는 학생을 대상으로 1:1 맞춤형 학습지원을 하는 초등교사이다.
이번 워크숍에는 기초학력 전담교사 107명이 참석해 ▲기초학력 전담교사제 운영 방안 ▲초기 문해력 진단 및 지원 방안 ▲읽기 학습과 읽기 발달 등을 중심으로 역량강화 연수를 진행했다.
충북교육청은 2026년 기초학력 보장 정책을 강화해 기초학력 전담교사를 기존 75명에서 107명으로 확대 배치했다. 당초 100명 배치를 계획했으나 추가 정원 확보를 통해 107명으로 늘렸다.
이는 전국 시·도교육청 가운데 기초학력 전담교사를 가장 많이 배치한 것으로, 기초학력 책임교육 강화를 위한 조치다.
특히 도내 초등학교 257교 가운데 약 42%에 해당하는 학교(107교)에 기초학력 전담교사를 배치해 학교 안에서 상시적으로 운영되는 기초학력 책임교육 체계를 구축하고, 현장 중심의 지원이 이뤄질 수 있도록 하고 있다.
앞으로도 충북교육청은 기초학력 전담교사의 전문성 신장과 현장 소통을 강화하기 위해 기초학력 전담교원 역량강화 직무연수, 1:1 맞춤 컨설팅, 학습공동체 운영 등을 지속적으로 추진할 예정이다.
