[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 ‘2026 아시아 이(e)스포츠대회’의 성공적인 개최를 위해 준비위원회를 출범하고 지역 협력 체계를 구축해 본격적인 대회 준비에 들어갔다고 11일 밝혔다.
시는 11일 시청 2층 시민홀에서 준비위원회 위촉식을 열고 경남도와 시의회, 경찰·소방 등 공공기관과 상공회의소, 기업, 언론, 문화·체육 단체 관계자 등 40여 명의 위원에게 위촉장을 수여했다.
준비위원회는 지역 유관기관과 경제·언론·의료·문화·체육 분야 전문가들로 구성돼 대회 분위기 조성과 시민 참여 확대, 기관 간 협력 체계 구축 등 성공적인 대회 개최를 위한 자문과 지원 역할을 맡게 된다.
이날 행사에선 대회 운영과 선수단 지원을 위한 후원금 기탁도 이어졌으며 지역 기업들이 적극적으로 참여해 e스포츠 국제대회의 성공 개최를 위한 지역 사회의 의지를 보여줬다.
또 진주시는 경상국립대학교와 진주교육대학교, 진주보건대학교, 연암공과대학교, 한국폴리텍대학 진주캠퍼스 등 지역 5개 대학과 체육·e스포츠 관련 기관과 협약을 체결해 상호 협력을 약속했다.
진주시 관계자는 “지역 기업의 후원과 전문가가 참여하는 준비위원회 출범으로 대회 성공 개최를 위한 기반이 마련됐다”며 “이스포츠와 지역 문화를 결합한 K-컬처 축제로 발전시키도록 준비에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 2026 아시아 이스포츠대회는 오는 4월 24일부터 26일까지 3일간 진주실내체육관에서 열리며 아시아 7개국 국가대표 선수단이 참가해 6개 종목에서 치열한 경쟁을 벌일 예정이다.
