【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북 영동군은 지난 12일 오후 영동읍 매천리 레인보우 힐링관광지 일원에서 ‘곤충생태 체험연구관 건립사업’ 기공식을 개최했다.
이날 기공식에는 정영철 영동군수를 비롯해 군의회 의장과 도의원, 군의원, 관련 기관·단체 관계자 등 50여 명이 참석해 사업의 성공적인 추진을 기원했다.

곤충생태 체험연구관 건립사업은 생물다양성 보전과 생태교육 활성화를 위해 추진되는 사업으로, 영동읍 매천리 44-1번지, 레인보우 힐링관광지 일원에 조성된다. 총사업비 105억 8천만 원이 투입되며 연면적 1,434㎡ 규모로 지하 1층, 지상 2층의 체험·연구시설이 들어설 예정이다.
시설 내부에는 종보전실, 수장실, 전시실, 체험관, 체험학습장 등 다양한 공간이 마련돼 곤충 생태 연구와 교육·체험 기능을 함께 수행하게 된다.
특히 멸종위기 1급 생물인 붉은점모시나비와 광릉요강꽃 등 지역 생물자원의 보전과 복원을 위한 연구·교육 거점으로 활용될 예정이다.
군은 향후 전시체험시설 설치와 운영 준비를 거쳐 2027년 중 개관을 목표로 사업을 추진할 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “곤충생태 체험연구관이 생물다양성 보전과 생태환경 교육의 중심 공간이 될 것으로 기대한다”며 “레인보우 힐링관광지와 연계한 새로운 생태관광 자원으로 지역 관광 활성화에도 도움이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
